Meh, I had my fun with Destiny, it's behind me now, they fail to really provide any substantial amount of content with their updates, I really hated the TTK update as it was too pricey, I hated The Taken as a race, way too supernatural appearing and macabre for my liking, we already have The Hive for that, and I hated how the level cap and leveling mechanics changed it basically nullifies all the grinding and leveling from prior games and it's back to it all again, I'm done, I especially hated how they never updated the House of Elders co-op mode to give better rewards after lifting the level cap with the new light system, gear was still capped at lvl 20, and I hate the multiplayer that's locked out for pre-assembled fire teams only, I much rather they have just a normal matchmaker, I hate trying to recruit group sin the main hub area, not enough people I know play it anyways.
Anyhow, with Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 coming out next month, I'm not even sure I'll make it to Rise of Iron anytime soon, hell, I just got Forza Horizon 3 and Mafia 3 has my attention too, then in December its South Park: Fractured But Whole and Dead Rising 4... yeah, not sure I'll ever find the time. Hell, there's a lot I'm missing I'd rather play, like XCOM 2, Batman: Return to Arkham Collection, I still want the Dead Rising Collection. There's loads more of those cheap downloadable indie games I want, more than I can keep up with there too.
Considering what they gave the Destiny Vanilla, this doesn't surprise me. I zoomed through the SP for RoI in like an hour. I already knew that was going to be lacking. The end game stuff is where it is at and that has always been the case. Some people having to grind for stuff. I don't mind it. The RNG has been more forgiving (at least for me) this year. Having said that, I am sure this thread will fill up with the always intelligent post of "people still play this game?"...because that's what kids do apparently.
The Destiny community is as strong as its ever been. The servers were flooded and backed up within minutes of a 5am release. And content was uploaded to YouTube within hours of the ROI release. My clan is loving our time with Destiny. As I have upwards of 28 friends playing Destiny on a regular basis. And once our light levels are 360+, we should be able to relax a bit from the grind and really enjoy our time.
The reused assests criticism is slightly silly. Since this is an expansion, and expansions do generally reuse assests. We were also fully aware priorhand, of what we were getting for our $30 dollars. ROI was also done with a small team within a year timeline. With most of Bungie working on Destiny 2, which is due next year. Whereas TTK, had the better part of two years for development time.
It's more of the same basically, I enjoyed the base game so I'll get around to this when I have a chance.....maybe next year, this year forget about it
The whole reason I quit was because they recycle way too much content. The one thing they should've recycled but didn't is weapons and armor, which they just flat out nullified with every dlc.
I honestly don't see this changing ever, even with Destiny 2.
ITs really sad to see full priced games with full priced DLCs/Expansions sell so great while coming from HUGE developers let alone publishers being on par , or in many cases WORSE , that LITERALLY Free 2 Play games.
Some examples :
Path of Exile >>> Diablo 3
Warframe ( since big patch ) >>> Destiny
and more....
Destiny is one of the biggest flops in the recent years imho. I couldnt beleive when i played Warframe for 1 month straight how is possible a small team with 100% Free to play formula to be able to deliver what a big budget huge team couldnt in terms of ... well ... EVERYTHING !
And the sad thing to this ? People keep buying out of marketing/fanboyism/hype such games ( including myself , i did it with Diablo3 on its releasE )
I am liking it so far but I felt like it doesn't improve the game anywhere near as much as taken king and the price is high. I mostly think it is just something all destiny players have to buy even if the content isn't impressive.
I said it in the comments on the article (and it's causing quite a hilarious shit storm there) and I'll say it here: I can't believe people still care about this game.

I don't know what was more disappointing playing the beta, titanfall 2 or battlefield 1. I'm not getting either
@turtlethetaffer: Gamers have perfected the sado masochistic practice of getting pleasure from propping up the worst about this hobby... I can't help, even years later to still think everything that surrounds Activision/Bungies approach to Destiny is bordering the worst of our hobby. They sold us a vanilla ice cream cone and charged a premium for every recycled topping.

I thought gamers had perfected the practice of enjoying a game flopping and talking negative shit. Everyone seems to revel in a good flop, brings the whole community together. I don't see anyone hyping destiny on here. They know better. People do love it though. I'm not one of them however but I'm glad they are getting more content and I hope the fan base enjoys it.
Shit in 2014
Shit in 2016
Same dev. Same publisher. Same shit. Don't expect a change in Destiny 2 neither
Some stupid cows still brag about this game when they talked about it being a console exclusive for DLC.
lmao, one of the huge flops this gen.

if it doesn't come to PC, i refuse to buy it on console.
Don't worry, you will get this shit on PC this time around. Bungievision wants the PC mmo crowd.
@TheEroica: That vanilla cone analogy is absolutely perfect. That's why I can't believe it. It does nothing that can't be found (better!) in other games, and yet it's somehow massively popular. Jesus.
I'm a big fan of Destiny, but I might just wait for sequel which seems to be a MAJOR step up. I don't have much interest in grinding the same content again. I do want to play that Raid though so I'll probably pick it up on sale next year.
I'm surprised destiny is still a thing at this point
Really? With yearly COD for almost a decade? This surprises you?
Bummer that it flopped. Everyone was hyping this expansion and expecting it to be great.

I agree mark. What is so wrong with people enjoying Destiny? I'm not buying ROI because I haven't completed TTK yet. Simply lost my interest. But I wont sit here and pretend that means I know better and state how shocked I am millions don't measure up to my lofty gaming choices. Get over yourselves people.

Vanilla Ice Cream cone is a mother fucking classic, you shut your cake hole. Destiny is not worthy of being vanilla ice cream.
I always laugh at people that spew hate at people that "still" play Destiny. You don't like it? Terrific. I've never once decided to go into a thread I care nothing about, such as Halo, Forza, WoW, or any of the other games people love and just randomly bash it because I don't like Bungie's/Activision's tactics. Pretty much every publisher/developer is using the grimy DLC tactic. But instead of complaining and bitching about it like school girls, I'd rather just enjoy a game I like playing. No amount of crying is going to change the way publishers and companies do DLC. None.
My apologies. I keep forgetting logic has never been SWs thing.
@jg4xchamp: The softer side of champ... Hes a vanilla ice cream cone fan. :P soft serve or the real deal?
On topic... After that launch window and putting 2 and 2 together as to what destiny was going to be, I felt like it was the first game to attempt selling a full game worth of content at premium priced chunks along the way... And what's worse, it wasn't all new content. Just repositioned, recycled content.
I think they should've sold Destiny out of the gate at 20 bucks. Like it was one chapter of future expansions. . I could at least look at that and say, cool... This is laying a base till more is ready. To drop 60 out of the gate, and then double down on all these expansions to fill the game out feels like I was taken advantage of on day 1. I can't bring myself to even buy any of the expansions at a discount anymore.
