Been playing it since release have probably 15 hours in it now. It’s actually a lot of fun and I don’t understand why it got bad reviews on IGN and Gamespot.

For those of you who have been playing the last two weeks, what are your opinions of the game? Is it better than what reviews say?

As of right now, I don't have the game since I'm so tired of Open World games. But I'm still looking for the game when it will get a price drop. At 30 dollars it looks fine to play a few hours.

@yammireckorrdsan: you’re gonna need more than a few hours as it’s like a 50 hour game

I've been playing it since release as well and it's a solid game. I love how thought-out the mechanics are: the sound you make, how sound is muffled during rainfall, how your bike works ...

Honestly it doesn't affect me one way or another if this game had scored a 10/10 or a 0/10

The fact this needs a thread is funny in-and-of itself... Still, i'll probably be picking it up down the line for a reduced price... Unless I have a weak moment.

@lundy86_4: why is it funny? The reviews said it’s a bad game when it’s actually pretty decent. Seems like a logical thread.

More damage control I see......it has 36 mixed reviews on Metacritic and according to many posters here who had hated on Xbox games like Quantum Break & Sunset Overdrive, which had higher scores, those games were trash but guess what Days Gone is an exception because some posters need to let us know that in this case, the reviews got it wrong. Ok

@jcrame10: It's the idea that a thread is needed to try and relay that the game is good from a singular opinion, given that reviews have been fairly average.

It's okay. I really find it hard to be motivated to play it, but when I AM playing it I don't have a bad time.

I'm happy to enjoy trash games like Quantum Break, Mario Kart 64 and Age of Empires, which all scored really low here.

Sony fans can't hack it, Nintendo and Xbox fans will gladly admit their flops but Sony fans are just plain delusional and will gladly take whatever they throw at them with open arms. No, Days Gone is not good, Sony is not perfect and let's move on.

@R4gn4r0k: Good there are people like you but unfortunately you seem to be in the minority, on this board anyways.

Like I said before Days Gone looks interesting to me and one day I may play it. But the amount of Hypocrisy on this board, and elsewhere, regarding this game.... is amusing to say the least.

its a cookie cutter zombie open world game.

the only redeeming quality is it has slightly above average graphics/cutscenes/voice acting. thats it.

And if xbox tried to still say a game was good even after bad scores, it would be laughed out of the room.

But it only happens to Nintendo for some odd reason.

You mean the company that knows how to stay in business by not flooding the market with 50 million units of unwanted and untested product?

Oh yeah, get your tin foil hats ready mates, apparently good business is now conspiracy.

Like the time they did that with Wii U to help boster sales...oh wait....damn...or when the 3DS has a bad launch...oh wait...hold on, somehow this fool proof scam doesn't seem to work unless the product is actually wanted and sells?

WEIRD.

It's almost like, they produce to cost, and sell it, sometimes to their own surprise, and then have to make more later on. Gosh.

Maybe they should just flood the market and go out of business, I'm sure you would prefer this.

I think it's to deflect that the product is selling well.

Just an excuse created by haters.

Remember that time the first labo didn't release enough product and then it sold out...oh wait..that didn't happen.

Odd...only happens when you SAY it happens when they sell a product people actually want...weird.

Best PS4 Exclusive I've played this gen. Open world is great, love the caution/prep when going out of camps for missions/resource gathering, all heck breaking loose cause of a slip up, random encounters human, animal, freakers.

The pacing of the game is great and the tension is amazing.

@Alucard_Prime: I don't recall many people calling Sunset Overdrive trash. I do remember people bashing Quantum Break because it was the Xbox's answer to UC4... except it wasn't nearly as good. It was also Ironic lemmings hated movie games yet QB actually had live action cutscene's.

I have been playing since the weekend it was released via rental. I too am around 15-20hrs in. It isn't a horrible game and looks damn great at times. I am enjoying it but after a couple hours I move on to playing another game as I get bored collecting scrap etc to build up trust and upgrade things. Still have yet to fight a giant horde.....just been meandering around exploring trying to level up. It is fun but I do agree with the majority of the reviews on it.

Fallout 76 is a good game. Been playing it since release have probably 400 hours in it now. It’s actually a lot of fun and I understand why it got bad reviews on IGN and Gamespot.... but Im cool with that. And I come to terms that people are going to hate on it without playing it.

From what I can tell, I will feel the same way about Days Gone when I get around to it. Seems to be a lot more factors going into game ratings these days, and not all of these concerns are shared by me.

The way I see it, you need to either try a game yourself, or find a reviewer that shares your tastes. Websites with multiple reviewers and different standards for every game muddy the waters quite a bit.

@mobius_basic: that’s my problem too, well my problem with all open world games. There’s no real buildup or climax. Just kind of running to one objective to the next. That’s why IMO linear games are far better for the overall experience factor.

From the several reviews I've watched, sounds like Gamestop missed the mark. Overall reviews are quite solid on metacritic. Not a "great" game, but a solid 7-8 2nd tier exclusive. Which I think is the ceiling most had for it. Still, I won't have time for this until it hits bargain bin anyway.

Closer to 6-7 on Metacritic actually.

The game has a amazingly good story. The game can be tedious with clearing nests, clearing camps, doing errands etc. The story is the one thing that keeps you going until the end. That's how good the plot is.

Lol yeah... I brought up this point in another thread. It's funny how the reviews are wrong about Days Gone, but games like Quantum Break or Sea of Thieves etc, are 100% spot on.

Anyway if people are enjoying it, good for them.
