Can you queue orders?

I'll still probably play over the shoulder most of the time anyway because I'm a brodude like that. But if you can queue many orders I'll probably snap to isometric and issue many commands then enjoy the battle at ground level.

Looks nothing like a tactical RPG. Lots of pew pew pew pew to attract the eye. PC gamers these days are not like us older ones. We remember games like Planescape Torement. Nowadays, pc gamers boast about slightly better console ports. To see them excited for such a title as shown here is pretty disgraceful. They might as well just run out and buy a PS4 since they have no respect or pride in pc gaming heritage.

This game seems to have a not be sure what type of game it wants to be.

It has tactical commands, but it also has direct control. I think it's going to be a mess why not just focus on one thing and not be shit at both. Hope I'm wrong.

lol, the combat looks meh compared to Divinity sorry. Can't que moves, doesnt look very tactical, not expecting much more than very nice graphics for this one. This game is looking very unsure of itself, we shall see how it turns out, but my hype is not very high at all after seeing the combat and after how bad DA2 was.

Vastly overrated my ass, lol. I think you used the wrong terminology there. If I had to call any game within recent memory "vastly overrated" it would definitely be The Last of Us; and that's also my favorite PS3 game last gen. The narrative could use some work in Divinity, that's for sure. The gameplay is great, the combat is fun, etc, etc. I'm also a huge DA fan, and I know it will be just as good if not better.

Only two poorly written companions, plastic towns with static NPCs which many don't change dialogue after their quests are over, stale and predictable story that fulfills every RPG cliché (although DAO is guilty of this), obtuse directions and abysmal puzzles, choices that really don't matter, and a rushed endgame.

All the game has is a good combat system, graphics, and soundtrack.

Best part is the graphics are mediocre. The art design is what carries it so well. To the rest:

I would argue that the main problem with Divinity is that it is slow out of the gate. After the 20-30 minute tutorial dungeon you're thrown into the largest town in the game and can spend anywhere from 2-4 hours just completing fetch quests and other non-combat scenarios until you finally leave.

Obviously after having played the game once you can fast-track this section somewhat, but after the game dazzles you with its combat mechanics at the beginning it does its best to hide them for the next few hours. Poor pacing, which luckily remedies itself once you leave the settlement.

Also the story can be pretty slow going in beginning, but certainly picks up 10-12 hours in.

Am I supposed to be impressed here? It's exactly like Mass Effect 2, PC will get a hotbar but nothing else will be different. Don't expect different inventory or different isometric gameplay mechanics.

Notice how there are only 8 spells at the same time as opposed to Origins where you could put how much you want? It's because there are maximum 8 spells on consoles. Why are you people so easy to deceive?

well there is divinity, then wasteland 2, pillars of eternity and torment tides of numenera as well as age of decadence and other less known titles; so true crpg lovers won't have to bother with dragon age crap anymore.

8 Talent slots and just 4 Sustained slots? F*ck you. They made it worse than DA2. How am I going to be one-man-army Arcane Warrior?

That too. But the town as well is so plastic. No day or night cycle. No NPC scheduling, characters act like their quest isn't completed, etc. Compare this with other cRPGs and Divinity loses.

The story does pick up, but the problem is that is so predictable, and the characters are not well written (outside surprisingly the two protagonists). Add the fact that there is only two major companions.

Divinity is a good game, its simply not a great one. Far too many flaws. Its no Baldur's Gate and its no Ultima. I think Pillars and Wasteland 2 will also be better than Divinity overall.

You mean the most game breaking DAO class. The balancing in DAO was beyond atrocious. However, the Knight Enchanter is a subclass for the mage in DAI.

How so? From almost every perspective this game will destroy Divinity from its world and setting design, to the companions and advisors, to the level of role playing options to where you can impact the world.

@texasgoldrush: Yeah but it was still fun to be a massive tank that casts Storm of Century everywhere. Provided that game didn't crash.

Also want my dual-wield warrior back. Two long swords, one with flame rune and one with frost rune. Badass.

Exactly. When DAO came out cRPG fans didn't have much, so it was like someone dying of thrust in the desert, they'll take any drink you give them.

The climate has changed now with crowd funding, ect...and there's actually some proper RPGs coming out for pc, so we don't have to settle for bullshit like Dragon Turds anymore.

From the looks of their forums, I highly doubt Bio fans give 2 shits about the UI. (or anything else not related to ROMANCE, for that matter)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dH9F76PtigY#t=70

Hell, even the final fantasy 7 or diablow fandom back in mid-90s weren't nearly as disgusting and humiliating to be associated with as these sub humans.

First off, the UI is fine, and the console version, which never had isometric views in their versions of DAO and DA2, was shown.

Second, the BSN forums are indeed pretty bad and they do bring Bioware down.

But third, DAI is not only the odds on favorite to win RPG Of the Year, its a GOTY candidate. Can't say the same for those crowd funded games you want to trumpet. And if Bioware does fail with DAI, its Dark Souls II that wins.

Yeah no thanks,I want good depth and complexity on my RPG´s and Divinity offers that,DA isn´t even on my radar, especially with upcoming games like Wasteland 2 or Pillars of Eternity,I no longer need bioware for anything RPG related and that has been the case for years now.

What's exactly wrong with DA?

I'd be a lot more worried about the blind fangasming people are having over games made by people that haven't done anything notable in the gaming industry in decades.

BioWare lets you impact the world? Good one. You are already keeping me amused, choices and Consequences in BioWare games have always been cosmetic at best, and far too often the game does not even aknowledge what you do. I gunned down everyone in Mass Effect 1 in that main mission and when I came back, everyone was alive and well as if nothing happened. Choices and Consequences do not exist in BioWare games. And while the world and characters will be better in DAI. The gameplay in Original Sin is top notch, the mediocre writing does not bring down the game. For DAI, the writing (it is BioWare, I have seen fanfic writers who are more talented than half of their writing crew) and gameplay are guaranteed to range from anywhere from subpar to terrible.

How so? From almost every perspective this game will destroy Divinity from its world and setting design, to the companions and advisors, to the level of role playing options to where you can impact the world.

Fallout: New Vegas?

inExile?

Bioware RPGs are dull in content and made to please the mainstream crowd, for example compare the two KOTOR rpgs, bioware's was more polished but obsidian's have much better depth into the star wars universe... bioware rpgs are even duller than the mainstream emo-kind jrpgs.

That's nice.

But it doesnt really mean anything. Some of the supposed best RPGs had really shitty UI's. (See: NWN2, VTMB and Witcher 2). But then again, most RPG UIs are terribad.
