Which is better, or does 4k suit consoles and high Hz suit PC gaming due to screen size?
Good video showing show higher refresh rates.

You can have both with PC. Choose based on the game you want to play.
Not really, you don't see many monitors that offer 4k and a high refresh rate like 144Hz. I see what you're saying, but from what i have heard its hard to go back to 60fps when your used to a higher refresh rate.
well the question I have is it true 4K.
Or are they just hooking up a 4K TV to the screen and calling it 4K gaming?
Most games (among the graphically intense titles) on the X1X and PS4pro use checkerboard upscaling or dynamic resolution.
I’d take 144hz over console honestly, hell I’m still happy with 1080p ultra 60fps. Imo better textures, aa, and fps beats med-low textures with bad aa and locked fps that aren’t guaranteed.
Personally I'll take the high refresh rates any day. Not to say having cleaner image quality isn't welcome, but holy shit it's hard to go back after experiencing games on a 144hz display while running well above 60fps. Aside from just being easier on the eyes, it really just makes for a better and much more responsive play experience.
Not sure I'm understanding the premise of this thread though. On PC you can choose to go either way. On console, you have no choice in the matter.
My PC is hooked up to two monitors now, one of which is 144hz, but nothing stopping me from hooking it up to the 4k big screen if I so choose.
And shit, if you have the money to spend, you don't have to choose at all. Just have both lol.
Personally, I'm not jumping into 4k gaming full on until a single GPU can handle the newest games at 4k with framerates well above 60fps.
Does a PS4 Pro (or XB1X) record gameplay in 4K or is the recording resolution selectable? Or, does it record fullsize, depending on what the resolution of the game is?
Can a gaming PC record a 4K gameplay at full resolution?
I'm a 1080p guy. So, I don't know. ;)
I'll go 4K as soon as they have high refresh rates.
No point, 4k at 60fps is hard now how long before 4k could hit 144Hz? That's why you don't them and they will be real expensive. You pay loads more just going from 1080p to 1440p on a higher Hz monitor.
My general rule is:
1) high settings
2) 1080p
3) 100+ fps
After that settings get upped.
1) sustain fps
2) higher settings ( even modded )
3) higher resolution
Yep, I won't upscale the resolution until I'm hitting ultra settings at high FPS. Would rather see better lighting and shadows as opposed to higher resolution, something that makes a minor difference compared to the actual engine tweaks.
1080p at ultra settings is a lot better than 4k at medium.
The first time youll see 144hz or more to run smoothly at high settings, youll never mind resolution or HDR again. Im still gaming at 1080p and i dont give shit ! 144hz ftw ! :)
144hz, that's it? Get with the times...

Frame rates trump everything but when you can have ultra/max settings, 2k or even 4k and 60 fps it just gets better.
Shame HDR isn't a set standard yet. I'll guarantee that a lot of people think their HDR capable TV displays everything with HDR, without ever realising that they have a Dolby Vision set that won't display HDR10 etc.

Hohohoho, thats out of my league ! 480, DAAAMN! That would be smoother than smooth. But ... find me a card to manage 480 fps at 1080p the latest titles ! And im buying tommorow !
Triple monitor 12k gaming...only on PC.
...oh I'm sorry, someone was saying something about consoles or 4k or something?
@pimphand_gamer:
In correct to call it 12k lol.
4K = 8 million pixels
3 x 4K = 24 million pixels
8K = 35 million pixels.
12k would be some where around 70 million pixels
@pimphand_gamer: god damn that looks awful tho. who cares about 12k res when the base game looks so hideous to begin with. but congrats on spending several thousand dollars to play with worse graphics than gt sport on a base ps4
He knows. That's why he posted it, it was a sad dig at PC.
But as long as decent PC continues to play nearly all video games better than xbox/playstation can I'm content with PC's technical capabilities. On top of far higher aaa/aa titles at MC and GS and better online gaming by exponential margins.
Worth it.
There are significantly less support for HDR in PC gaming that console gaming. Lets not act as if its a selling feature for PC gaming.
There are significantly less 4K games on consoles than on PC
And sadly IS a selling feature for the new consoles.

Quote train.
Lets pretend that there will be TVs with 384 LED backlighting zones. oh wait. There wont, just PC monitors.
This beast is out 2018
