Wait until this becomes the norm. Nobody wants to play with GP players.

They are pretty much banning anyone who just started playing the game if they try to join these private servers. Since most of the people who just started playing the game are playing it because of gamepass they get banned. I don't think the same thing is happening on the console versions of the game.

Seems like their is more to this story. So if their is nothing more to this story I will lock this thread if that subreddit locks the equivalent thread. People are complaining about issues with PC gamepass on the official subreddit for that game.

This post is very misleading and probably should be removed because it's spreading misinformation to a whole group of new players.

Team 17 pushed an update and it's having server issues with PC Gamepass players (this doesn't affect consoles at all) and are working on an update to fix this issue.

So ppl that are on PC only that are running private servers are doing this so their games don't run into the potentially game breaking issue with PC GP players.

Well, two things:

1. They're private servers. I believe hosts have to pay for those, so they should be allowed to invite/forbid anyone they want.
2. The Steam client banned cheaters via their Steam ID, and now anyone with Game Pass can go and play. Which is fine. Unless you're one of these cheaters that was banned on Steam.

Basically they're worried about cheaters and exploiters and otherwise toxic players that were banned via their Steam ID rejoining games and ruining a good time for everyone.

The thing about Hell Let Loose (and other games like Squad and ArmA and so forth) is that they require a bit more work than dipshit little CoD or Battlefield, and it's a really tight-knit community for the most part where you find favorite servers and the same people show up at the same time.

So when someone comes to ruin your good time--either by cheating, exploiting, or being toxic--it's really important that both the server host and/or the game developer (when the situation warrants "official" involvement) can ban that player.

This is, well...not a good thing. But it's a necessary thing.

Wow didn't even hear of this part, just the whole "not wanting to let banned players enter via Game Pass".

Many of the games with crossplay give options to matchmake with crossplay or to not allow for it. Though kind of dickish behavior can be avoided by the devs for putting better controls on matchmaking preferences.

This is a competitive MP game so it's probably more concerning among players having to play with console players. Co-op based games this is less an issue, I dare say with KBM supposedly giving PC players an edge over console players, in co-op based PvE games I rarely see this advantage materialize, perhaps due to the lax competitive atmosphere, but in crossplay co-op more often I see console players being more effective team players and overall doing a much better job than PC players in mission performance.

It could be a combination of the above plus your two points. Their might be players who don't want to babysit new players in their servers but at the same time the connection issues on gamepass plus the cheater problem makes it easier for some of the people who run these private servers to ban gamepass users. This whole issue is only affecting pc gamepass though since the console version of the game have no private servers. People might also be waiting a few weeks until things calm down a bit to let people playing the game via gamepass into their server.

Damn, Sony fannies grasping at straws in absolute desperation. This is going to be a fun year.
