I'm gonna press X on that one. Two years post release and the game is still not what they promised in the 2018 demo.

At best, they won't promise anything this time.

I think we can all agree on one lesson they have learned. Do not make cross-gen ports. Current-gens only and with CP2077's latest expansion on the way and won't be cross-gen, I'd say this is a start in the right direction CDPR has learned and not get greedy.

Sequel to CP2077 is like developing a sequel to Anthem. Not smart.

And how many copies were refunded? Also, CP2077 was a bigger shitstorm than anything Anthem related. Sales will be very different with the sequel.

And if it took them like 8 years to release an unfinished game, how many decades are we supposed to wait for the sequel to come out?

Dunno. They recouped their investment with pre-orders alone.

Hopefully the switch to UE5 will make development easier for them.

Its real hard to be excited for anything from them because even if their last game wasn't a massive failure, we're still at least like 6 years away from their first title lol. Hard to care about something this far off.

Sorry losers Cyberpunk was a great game. Certainly better than Halo Infinite and Stray.

That's awesome and all, but I kinda want my games finished and stuff before playing them and junk.. Not a superfan of paying for broken things, or being lied to about the quality, features and stuff like that. Call me old fashioned.

I had my fun with Cyberpunk, but yeah it sucked. I didn't even think it looked that good from any footage I saw prior to the release. The AI also looked terrible and they still are not challenging enough for a FPS. It's trying to be an RPG with its choices and character stats and such but it ended up feeling like a generic looter shooter. It was a cakewalk of a game and the story wasn't good. The Edgerunners anime is much much better and made me engaged in caring for these characters than most anyone in the game.

Witcher 3 was lightning in a bottle because the other two were fine RPGs but, to me, not exceptional. That third game is still very enjoyable to sink over a hundred hours into and the main and side quests are the most engaging things I've played in any game with quests.

Perhaps if CDPR can learn from their mistakes with Cyberpunk and implement some actual challenge for the AI, meaningful choices, meaningful quests, meaningful characters (besides Keanu), and not make the world feel so empty, then a sequel could be great. All they have to do for a new Witcher series is copy the third game and you've got my interests renewed.

I see CDPR is still announcing games just... way, way before they should.

I guess this is more of a "We are giving up on ever making CP2077 match our initial vision for the game" announcement.

@Juub1990:

What's there to learn, it was the only game they messed up on. I think their past games were all fine and they fixed cyberpunk to where it's what it should of been at launch. It was weird to see it happen, makes no sense why a company like that would fk up a game that bad and release it. It's like the ancient aliens from above messed with them for laughs.

@Syn_Valence: Cyberjunk was not a good game at all.

Possibly the worst gunplay of any FPS game.

A game like Syndicate (or, more recently, Satellite Reign) would suit the Cyberpunk license well. Might be a bit too copycat for peoples' tastes, but I think a management meets turn-based strategy blend would be neat. Manage your crew, become mercenaries or law enforcement or criminals, build your empire, then fight your battles.

It probably won't be anything like that. Which is sad, because one of the better Witcher games didn't belong to the main three games, but was instead kind of an isometric game with card-based battles a la Gwent called Thronebreaker.

Ah well, we will see what comes. I enjoyed Cyberpunk, but it was definitely not what it should have been. Loved The Witcher 3. Still hoping CDPR pulls through.
