Thought it would be higher, guess it's another flop.

[QUOTE="UCF_Knight"]This was hyped AAA? :o Anyway, good score. Nice for all the WoW fans, though I highly doubt they waited to see any reviews. :PsoulitaneYup the hype was AAA I'm pretty sure.
It was hyped AAA, but why PC gamers give GS reviews credit is beyond me :?
I don't play WoW, but I am a bit shocked since I hear its the best expansion yet and adds so much to the game. Hmm well apparently AAE didnt harm its sales at all :P.
One of the biggest reasons it didn't make the AAA cut is because they didn't include all the changes made before the expansion, that were in a way part of the expansion, in the review. Whether they should include that in the review or not is debatable.

Yeah I said that to myself as well, if they added the changes with CATA it would have been AAA as it would have counted as basically new content.
When someone says "Yes, the hype was AAA," what are they referring to? The only "proof" that someone put up was a poll that included about 200 people. Just because some saw a post in a forum from one person, people immediately decide that the one person represent all gamers. Can someone put forth some more evidence please?
Huh? For every game, there is a poll. The majority vote determines hype. Just because people do not wish to partake, does not mean the poll is not valid, or no president would have ever been elected. When someone says "Yes, the hype was AAA," what are they referring to? It's just how system wars works, the game itself isn't necessarily a flop just on system wars. When someone says "Yes, the hype was AAA," what are they referring to? Dude as a PC gamer, we all know the hype was AAA amongst us. Some people even citing "the best expansion to date", which it honestly is.

Thats all the evidence system wars needs. If GT5 is a flop so is Cata!! FACT!!!!!!9w92719373921
oh man, 8.5 again? I think GS is trolling xDfunsohng
Well their reasoning might be considered silly, however I think I can understand where they are coming from. They said the expansion did not change as much as the free update although some would argue the free update was part of the expansion content, GS saw otherwise as you don't need the expansion to experience it. So all the things the update provided (the new skill descriptions, redesigned zones (bulk of content here), spells, class-factions combos) weren't counted while reviewing cataclysm.

Well, that kinda proves WoW is still awesome for who plays it still doesn't it?[QUOTE="funsohng"]Well, that kinda proves WoW is still awesome for who plays it still doesn't it?Espada12
It does, but people gonna hate!
I mean, I don't even play WoW, and I was impressed by GiantBomb Quicklook. I heard they pretty much destroyed everything in the map, but not like overnight, but like over the course of time and had special events like cultists invading cities and whatnot, sounded like some intense business.[QUOTE="Espada12"][QUOTE="funsohng"]Well, that kinda proves WoW is still awesome for who plays it still doesn't it?funsohng

First it was actually cultist infiltrating and spreading their propaganda, then they set traps all over the major cities, then they unleashed elementals all over the major cities via the traps, and during all this death wing is being annoying and causing elementals to go crazy all over the world and all this time you are playing double agent trying to figure out who is leading them and what they are doing and how they are going to do it.
yeah! Because NCsoft has produced 9.0+ games since its birth![QUOTE="Ncsoftlover"]
It flopped !! :D
Ravenchrome
Oh I'm not wishing for it to flop, I love Blizzard, I just found it quite funny when something like this flops :P

all that for promoting an expansion. damn.I just want to add that I don't think there is a single game in gamespot history that has its third expansion score in the AAAs.
So that's pretty much not doable.
I enjoy that they considered the shattering update as not part of cataclysm.
Yet more proof of gamespots incompetence when it comes to the PC.
In general, AAA refers to a game of the highest quality. It was impossible for a 3rd expansion for a MMORPG to score a 9 or above, on this site, i thought it would be given a 8.0. A 8.5 is something i didn't expect, but its Blizzard. I don't know why people hyped it to be above 9 on Gamespot. So its a flop.
But do people on this site even comprehend what AAA means?
The common qualities of a AAA title, as i have heard from other sites, hardcore gamers, casual games, are:
WoW Cataclysm sold 3.3 million in 24 hours, and set a new record on PC sales. I think the two most fundamental factors that define a AAA game are scores and sales. On Gamespot, its a flop. On other sites, its not.
In the world, Blizzard won.
But its not part of Cataclysm...You dont have to buy the expansion to enjoy the other benefits.I enjoy that they considered the shattering update as not part of cataclysm.

ahah yeah thats a "little" good. In the same way that Iphone is just sorta selling now, a few units here and there but not like one of the highest sellers on the market or anything..If i'm not mistaken it sold 3.3 million in the first 24 hours, thats pretty good.

It is, blizzard just decided to give it away for free.
It is, blizzard just decided to give it away for free. And props to them. Amazing thing for them to do. As a whole experience WoW is made much stronger by this decision. However, its not a part of Cataclysm. You dont have to buy Cataclysm to experience this new material. This is worth noting to anyone who is looking to make a purchase. Scores are given to sway purchasing behaviour. So as such GS was quite right to not include this stuff into the review as you will have already paid for it before (by buying any WoW product)...htekemerald

The fact that the review didn't give any credit to these large free updates wow has on a regular basis is moronic, plain and simple. Every other company would charge you through the nose for similar patches, but if that's the model you want to support for the gaming industry so be it.[QUOTE="htekemerald"]It is, blizzard just decided to give it away for free.
