Thought it would be higher, guess it's another flop.

Man, GS is flopping EVERYTHING this year. Lord have mercy. :lol:

To me this is the best expansion yet, simply for the fact that it has mobilised guilds to do runs together more often. Now its not only high level players that get to gether for a run, its everyone trying grouping up and going for the guild perks.

Damn,even WoW isn´t safe from the GS flopping rampage.! :o

I don't play WoW, but I am a bit shocked since I hear its the best expansion yet and adds so much to the game. Hmm well apparently AAE didnt harm its sales at all :P.

One of the biggest reasons it didn't make the AAA cut is because they didn't include all the changes made before the expansion, that were in a way part of the expansion, in the review. Whether they should include that in the review or not is debatable.

Yeah I said that to myself as well, if they added the changes with CATA it would have been AAA as it would have counted as basically new content.

When someone says "Yes, the hype was AAA," what are they referring to? The only "proof" that someone put up was a poll that included about 200 people. Just because some saw a post in a forum from one person, people immediately decide that the one person represent all gamers. Can someone put forth some more evidence please?

Dude as a PC gamer, we all know the hype was AAA amongst us. Some people even citing "the best expansion to date", which it honestly is.

I guess GS felt like handing out flops this year like candy.

Well even if it's a flop I am enjoying it far, far more than BC or WotLK so w/e. I think it might be that gamespot didn't include all the updates outside of the 80-85 stuff. Or maybe they're just raging from the fact that heroics are actually hard again.

Well their reasoning might be considered silly, however I think I can understand where they are coming from. They said the expansion did not change as much as the free update although some would argue the free update was part of the expansion content, GS saw otherwise as you don't need the expansion to experience it. So all the things the update provided (the new skill descriptions, redesigned zones (bulk of content here), spells, class-factions combos) weren't counted while reviewing cataclysm.

Yea they did alot of stuff. First it was actually cultist infiltrating and spreading their propaganda, then they set traps all over the major cities, then they unleashed elementals all over the major cities via the traps, and during all this death wing is being annoying and causing elementals to go crazy all over the world and all this time you are playing double agent trying to figure out who is leading them and what they are doing and how they are going to do it.

I just want to add that I don't think there is a single game in gamespot history that has its third expansion score in the AAAs.

So that's pretty much not doable.

I am by all means not a wow fan, quite the opposite, but i think its the best expansion they had so far it made the questing to level up much better which was my main gripe with it.

In general, AAA refers to a game of the highest quality. It was impossible for a 3rd expansion for a MMORPG to score a 9 or above, on this site, i thought it would be given a 8.0. A 8.5 is something i didn't expect, but its Blizzard. I don't know why people hyped it to be above 9 on Gamespot. So its a flop.

But do people on this site even comprehend what AAA means?

The common qualities of a AAA title, as i have heard from other sites, hardcore gamers, casual games, are:

• - High-quality
  - Broad market
  - High sales
  - Polished audio-visual direction
  - Close to perfect technical and artistic execution
  - Playable & fully enjoyable within the first five minutes of play
  - Exhaustively tested
  - Bug free
  - Great usability
  - Continous, balanced entertainment from beginning to end
  - Hype

WoW Cataclysm sold 3.3 million in 24 hours, and set a new record on PC sales. I think the two most fundamental factors that define a AAA game are scores and sales. On Gamespot, its a flop. On other sites, its not.
