Who doesn't like cats?:?

I mean isn't liking cats a requirement for using the Internet?:?I'm kind of disappointed by this new Mario game. It looks like it should be on the 3DS rather then the Wii U. I wanted a new Mario game that isn't another Galaxy but not something like this. But maybe it will be fun so who knows. But the Cat costume does looks silly. Sorry but it does.
The cat suit isn't the problem.Â
Mario games seem to be getting smaller and simpler, like they're dumbing down the franchise. The lead Mario game for Nintendo seems to be the 2D/3D Mario games now, as opposed to the proper 3D game. Also, its probably much easier to make these games. Less imagination is required in abstract looking shape worlds, and gone is the incredible creativity of the galaxy worlds. This annoucement was a massive dissapoitnment for me.Â
Nintendo is just playing it too safe, not innovating with any games. Smash Bros, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, etc. All the games are exactly like the previous installments. And what Nintendo calls "new features", like petting pokemon, is just pathetic.Â
I'm actually more embarrassed that Super Mario 3D World is the follow-up to the Super Mario Galaxy games.
I disagree with most of what you said, but I can see how playing what is essentially a 2D Mario level in 3D could be construed as going smaller and simpler. I think it makes it more focused. Rather than a scavenger hunt for stars, it's an obstacle course. Both make for nice diversions, and are really fun as long as the difficulty is there. That being said, what franchise is anybody making that you would say isn't getting simpler and dumbed down over time? The cat suit isn't the problem.Â

I was really looking forward to seeing an Open World 3D Mario :(
Those games are great, but I've always thought they were grossly overrated. I prefer Mario 64, and I thought Super Mario 3D Land was a great change of pace. The quality of 3D World is going to depend completely on the quality of the level design. It could be better or worse than Galaxy, but the end result will have absolutely nothing to do with Nintendo's decision to go with the 3D Land formula.I'm actually more embarrassed that Super Mario 3D World is the follow-up to the Super Mario Galaxy games.

yes because petting pokemon is literally the only new feature they're adding to XY. Mario 3d land was a completely safe game that didn't try anything new with it's levels and use of stereoscopic 3d. Seriously :roll:The cat suit isn't the problem.Â

No, coz I'm not an insecure loser hiding behind a keyboard who needs every passer by he/she possibly could interact with to know that they aren't (insert stupid negative term like kiddy, childish, etc)

So you don't think adding 4 player game play (something they've been trying to do since Super Mario 128) is a big change? Or the whole free running thing with the cat suit climbing up walls? Clearly those two mechanics will stop it from being the "same game". I think you're mistaking things and hoping for the core Mario mechanics, running and jumping, to change. That's fine if you want to apply that to it but that same logic applies to probably every game you're looking forward to this year and next.
Core concepts stay the same, it's how well developers tweak those core concepts with additional mechanics that matters. It's not like Mario will turn into Limbo or something.
The new Mario is not ambitious in the least, which is why it is disappointing, I'm sure it will be great and be lots of fun i it is anything like SM3DL, but I do wish they were a bit more ambitious, and the cat suit looks great, but I feel Nintendo would have gotten flack no matter what, if they release SMG3, people would have been, another Galaxy. I do hope we get a more ambitious Mario down the line for Wii U, but for now this looks to be a solid title.layton2012Another "best game ever" would NOT have been a bad thing. A 3DS sequel kinda is. It'll be "good not great" is my gut feeling
Who a Mario game that is similar to one on a handheld and add 4 players. I haven't seen that before. Oh yes I have it was New Super Mario Bros Wii.Â
I'm a bit disappointed by the showing. Â Just seems underwhelming after Galaxy2, but I'm sure it will be fun. Â Might even be better, who knows?
But embarrassed of a cat suit? Â Do you not play video games? Â There are plenty of gaming related things that I find more embarrassing than another animal power up in a Mario game.
Honestly, the most embarrassing thing I do for entertainment is post on this board. Â I would much rather have the people close to me see me playing SM3DW than see me posting here lol.
