Can MS compete with the onslaught of Sony games coming out?

Death Stranding, Last of Us 2, Final Fantasy 7 remake, Ghost of Tsushima, Shenmue 3, Horizon Zero Dawn 2, next God of War, and more to come for sure. Can MS compete with Sony with all of these games coming out? They have the next Halo, Gears 5, probably another Forza, and they bought a bunch of studios. Do you think that's enough or does MS still need to prove itself, SW? I'm still waiting for that next must have game.

Microsoft pulled the plug. Theyre prepping for next gen, just like nintendo shifted all remaining wiiu software to Switch.

So is next Spider-Man.

@MonsieurX: Death Stranding is a huge exclusive, Shenmue 3 scheduled for November, last of us 2 is definitely coming out very soon, it's been in development for a very long time and it's just a matter of Sony not wanting to have their games compete with each other, and final fantasy 7 remake is a ps4 exclusive and is confirmed for March.

I think Microsoft and most Lems finally accepted that Xbox will never beat PlayStation in worldwide sales or game library.

PlayStation has beat Xbox 3 times in a row. Even at Sony’s worst(PS3), they beat Microsoft’s best(Xbox360).

With the huge failure of xbone, there is no chance of the Xbox brand ever recovering. It’s over for Xbox. Their fan base only lives in USA and some parts of UK. That’s it. That is not enough to win a gen.

Microsoft promised tons of games for xbone because they bought tons of studios. This was promised in 2013. The games never came. They were cancelled. The games that did come were massive flops like sea of thieves and Recore.

If you believe Microsoft buying some studios again is going to = games, you are delusional. They tried that and failed.

Anyway, this thread is kinda dumb. First of all, FF7 will most likely come to Xbox eventually anyway. Second of all, HZD 2 & GoW 2 haven't even been announced. And third and most importantly, we don't know what MS has up it's sleeve in regards to releases from their new studios. So how can we possibly say if MS "can compete"? Dumb thread.

Sure. They acquired a large number of studios, some that have proven themselves to be quite capable plus they have been building up their new studio, The Initiative, with some talented individuals. Of course they’ve also got Gears of War 5 and Halo Infinite coming out in the near future. No doubt they also probably have Forza 8 and Forza Horizon 5 later on down the road. Those are still 4 excellent IPs in my opinion.

The initiative is just a bunch of rich guys drinking overpriced lattes in california not making crap, they haven't made anything and are mostly on vacation and just hanging out doing theories and artwork for games.

Gears is stale Halo is stale Forza is stale people are saying they've had enough with all 3. I met some ppl saying forza horizon 4 was just forza horizon 3 but worse.

I’d also love to see a new Killer Instinct game for their next gen system. The Xbox One game turned out excellent.

Don't know when TLoU2 and GoT is coming, sure they'll be great, as will Halo Infinite.

FF7R and Shenmue 3 will be on Xbox eventually, if not Xbox people will just play them on their personal computers.

And there is no HZD2 or God of War, and by time there is such games, Initiative will have AAAA guns ready.

This one is rumored by a voice actress so it’s gotta be soon. This one has been worked on for a long time so it’s gotta be soon. This one is in 10 months from now. This one hasn’t even been announced that development has started.

@SolidGame_basic: When you actually break down your list you get, a bizarre game which looks like another open world walkathon....a JRPG remake.... A hack and slash that could be anything....an indie fan nostalgia game that justifies it's shoddy graphics through nostalgia.

The others are pure speculation, and won't be out before ps5.

I'm interested in Death stranding, because it looks different...but if it turns out to be another convoluted, drawn out open world game I'll pass.

Gears 5 appeals to me more than the other 3 in your list, and Halo infinite more than anything including the unanounced games.

Ori 2 Is out in February, and if it's as good as the first one then I'm good until the launch of Scarlett, which is where we'll see the results of all those studio purchases.

Also every single one of those games - including those that haven't even been announced - are all 3rd person action/adventures....no variety in genres at all. No mp gaming whatsoever either.

I'm interested in Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon 2, God of War 2... but let's be real here, there are no set release dates for these games.

I'd hardly call that an 'onslaught' of games.

On the Microsoft side I'm interested in Halo: MCC, Age of Empires 4, Age of Empires II: DE and Psychonauts. Last one not a Microsoft title, per se. But It's made by a Microsoft studio.
