Change "Kinect" to "Motion Controls" and it would be more accurate. And, nope, I don't think so. The stigma is there. It would take like a hundred AAA+ games before that will go away.

They should have prevented this image from spreading in the first place. One good hardcore game at launch would have done the trick, the should have held back on it until next year's holidays. They could have pleased the casuals and the hardcore, could have made sure the hardware and UI was perfect. coulda.woulda.shoulda.
Only hardcore gamers would consider it 'garbage' and it was never aimed at hardcore gamers.....So why would they want to escape it's casual image when that is the bloody target market?
They're going to want to escape it's current image when they realize their current target audience will buy maybe 2 games a year and then hide the thing in the closet.Only hardcore gamers would consider it 'garbage' and it was never aimed at hardcore gamers.....So why would they want to escape it's casual image when that is the bloody target market?

I have only played Kinect Sports and Dance Central, but from those 2 games I am not convinced that Kinect has ability to transform hardcore games.
Kinect Sports is really hard to control, much harder than Move or Wii. I can't see Kinect ever being able to track precise, pinpoint movements in this generation-- maybe with future refinements in the next generation.
Eventually the public will see through all the casual trash games being released and Kinect will have the same shovelware problem the Wii does. Kinect doesn't have the luxury of having the best 1st party publisher in the world, Nintendo, to support their line-up.
Kinect may have sold a few million units so far, but that isn't enough to convince many 3rd party publishers like Activision to throw major title investment at Kinect. I think the Kinect gimmick will wear off if they don't get a killer ap soon. Wii has had many killer aps to keep it going, but Kinect will have a much harder time since Microsoft is not writing its own software.

Define "gamers."
Why should it need to?
The people who gave it the "casual garbage" image are the people who'd have never played it in the first place
So your going to ignore all the games Move can play right now and the upcoming core/core supported lineup? Even when you say you hate motion controls you have to bring down Sony's product, can't admit Move does it right lol.No...but then again neither can the move.

Move can because it has buttons! Haven't you heard about Killzone 3 MOVE support? That's more hard-core than the entire library of Kinect games combine including future releases. MAG has MOVE support too BTW, and many other core games will too...
I am getting tired of this type of rhetoric expoused by "bro" gamers. It is their holier-than-thou attitude that is hurting the image of gamers, not the "causual" gamers. Why are we treating casual and grabage as if its a truth in itself?

Even when you say you hate motion controls you have to bring down Sony's product, can't admit Move does it right lol. they dont do it right they do it half assed, tagged on. Nearly every game that could be considered even remotely hardcore its been tacked on to the original gameplay not with the game created specifically for the move and when its tacked on the controller works better, hell even when its not tacked on and the game is made for it a controller would work better. Motion sensing is only capable of casual trash in my opinion, Kinect, Move, Wii. Until we get true 1:1 motion sensing with pure tactile feedback it will always be that way. P.S: your on system wars, if you dont like it then leave it Keiji how about you debate the topic at hand instead of debate the concept and method by which people work within system wars...Its filled with fanboys.[QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"]

all of which would work faster, better and more accurate with a controller. As long as they dont force it into EVERY GAME like Nintendo did I think Kinect will be fine. The biggest mistake that MS can make with Kinect is to flood its library with hundreds of party game shovelware. The controler-less realm of gaming has so many possibilities but the games need to be more than party titles.

I consider myself a gamer and i like the Wii. Still, i would never have it as my primart system.
Casual is just fine and dandy as that what it's currently aimed at but the G word me thinks needs to be Moved and not Kinected.
