Both PS5 and Xbox break eco-friendly promise

According to an article by Polygon, both the PS5 and the Series S use much more power playing current gen games than their predecessors did. This, despite Sony and Microsoft claiming their new consoles would be more environmentally friendly.

I wonder how many in System Wars even care about whether their systems are "eco-friendly." And Polygon should be blacklisted, just like Kotaku and Resetra.

First let me explain, i dont frequent these sites, in fact i've maybe visited these places once or twice in the last 5yrs.

Im expecting it to be petty shit, but im willing to listen.

Polygon wants us to be upset about 70W while watching Netflix or a max TDP of 350W? “Overall, though, the expected draw of 160-200 watts to play PS5 titles, or games optimized for the Xbox Series X, is more power than a 60-inch television set consumes, the NRDC said.” The consoles drawing more power than a TV should be expected... I hope Polygon doesn’t look at the power supplies in gaming PCs. Those poor fools might pass out

More powerful hardware using slightly more power. I'll take that tradeoff.

"Environmentally friendly" has become a buzzword without much meaning. Trying to define it as using less energy is absolutely ridiculous.. It's become a thing with a meaning that seems to shift how it is applied based on who is applying it and why.
