Poll Biggest failed console of all time (91 votes)
All those consoles failed, but which failed harder?

@davillain-: this GIF illustrate my threads well.
What anime is that, btw?
The gif is from Anime Kill la Kill.
The Virtual Boy may have been the greatest failure, but the truth is I would sooner purchase a Virtual Boy than an Xbox One.
Aside from Virtual Boy, I wish TC would have also included this:
@Jacanuk: I was on my way to my job, actually
Whoa! You actually have a job?! I'm even more impressed and sad at how you manage to find the time to post so much garbage on here in such little time...gasp! So you just what? Work, eat, sleep, spew garbage on Gamespot? Is that your routine?
@dagubot: it's simple, I type anything that comes on my mind without even thinking about it and you people fall for it.
Everytime.
Fall for what? The amount of time that YOU waste on these forums while everyone just points and laughs at you...lol. Yeah...good one! You sure got us...clown...lol.
Out of those, I put OG Xbox since it was the biggest money loser out of all those consoles. I liked the games that came down the pipe on it though.

Wellllll you might want to think about it...PS3 lost all the profits from PS2 AND PS1.....take those Sony goggles off son

To be fair, Xbox was release a year later after PS2 and Gamecube release few days after Xbox. Xbox was still newer to the gaming world of its time, it was obvious Xbox was gonna have a hard time getting any fans until it becomes noticeable. I wouldn't go that far to say it was the biggest loser but it did gave us Halo CE which revolutionize FPS on the console. PS2 was so big, because of that DVD build-in drive made the console best selling points when DVD's was still a huge thing.
@dagubot: you're wasting time responding to me and my threads, that should tell you something.
That's your comeback? Really? Lmao...get help; seek friends outside this place, go be social, find yourself a nice girl or guy to keep you company...lol.
@dagubot: I merely stated the fact that you're wasting your time with me... And here you are doing it again ??♂️

Sony and Nintendo had no problem breaking into the market. ;) Yeah, MS brought a couple of necessary changes to the industry with Xbox though with the focus of online and introducing the HDD as proper memory storage. Xbox had games for sure, but it was a big loss for MS as a company though. Some higher-ups at MS thought it was a waste of resources because it was a money sink with over $5 billion lost. Most companies would have called it one, but I think the rejection made MS even more determined. Former Xbox head Robbie Bach wrote about it.
@speedfreak48t5p:
OG Xbox sold less than 25 Million units.
Xbox one haven't moved 30 million units yet.
Failures in my book
who gives a shizzle of ur book? u blind af.
@R4gn4r0k: Exactly. That’s the way it should be forever and trying anything new or different is just a pointless waste of time.
Thing is: games change all the time, they try new stuff all the time.
Nintendo, Sony and MS doing motion controls wasn't a great place for gaming
Just like every company going after mobile gaming wasn't a great place for gaming
Just like every company going after VR fad wasn't a great place for gaming
You think I hate change ? You couldn't be more wrong.
Motion controls are great for some games though. It sucked in Mario Kart, but to be fair, I haven't seen anything beat the analog stick yet for racing games. Still, motion controls are the definitive way to play games like Zelda (where you swing your weapon) and shooters.
I guess it depends on how you define failure. The Virtual Boy is the obvious sales flop, no way around that. At the same time, it had an excuse since Nintendo dropped that thing faster than Sony dropped the Vita. The Wii U, and even the Xbox One, were flops that their company kept supporting for YEARS on end. Like the Wii U was supported for 5 years by Nintendo, before they finally dropped that sucker. The Xbox One is going to be supported for about years before Microsoft drops that sucker.
The only one that doesn't deserve to be on this list is the OG Xbox. It was a new console and had stiff competition, so it isn't fair in that regard.

How is VR not a great place for gaming? Makes perfect sense for gaming, and you can't write it off this early anyway since it's an ongoing process.
lol at anyone who things that these are even close to the biggest failures. SW must have a lot of young people on it lol.
@undefined: a list without the Saturn or dreamcast or even the Atari 5200 or jaguar
I have to say the 5200 easily.
Although the jaguar can also be at the top neither one of these set the market on fire and the 5200 was notorious for its controllers breaking and without working controllers how can you even play just one game lol
For me:
Games: wii- shovelware games with third party games looking and playing far worse than the competition.
Hardware: Xbox 360. You can't release a console with a 54% FAILURE RATE and not consider it a failure in some way. It's also worth noting that this console was the one that hid streaming behind a paywall, and charged DLC for PC content that was free.
There's been a lot of floppy consoles, particularly coming out of Japan in the 90's. If you ever watch the video game history channels on Youtube, it's really interesting to learn about all the ones you've never heard of.
Anyway, I'm going to say the Casio Loopy. A console aimed at girls, with one controller port, and a grand total of 11 games over its lifetime! Support was dropped for it only one year after its release.
I remember how fast the jaguar dropped in price. The controller put me off the system even when it was down to £100.
Aside from the Virtual Boy, I don't consider any of them failures. To me, a failure is a certified flop. Four years a good life for a machine, even the Wii U. The Dreamcast... as successful as it was during its life, is a failure to me because of its premature death after only two years. People try to say that the Vita is a failure, but there are still games being made for it, and that thing came out in 2012. I'd say the Wonder Swan, the Lynx, the Neo Geo Pocket, those are failures.
All xbox consoles were a success. The Virtual Boy by far had the worst sales, folliwed by Wii U.
lol
Virtual boy no doubt. Then consoles like Apple Pippin, Phillips Cd-i , Panasonic 3DO, Neo Geo CD, Atari Jaguar saying hi.
From the List it has to be the Virtual Boy.
Also throw in the Sega CD, Sega 32X, Turbo Grafx 16, and even the Atari 5200.
Dreamcast should get a mention too, although like the NEO-GEO both actually had good games and have a cult following now.

Dreamcast had nothing to do with those fails. Sold 10M, still a fail but not even close to the other candidates. Also check Laseractive lol, epic fail 10K sales
