BF2042 in CP2077 territory - so bad Steam will make refund policy exceptions now

Basically the game is so broken and nobody plays it, so Steam is now offering players the option to get a refund regardless of refund restrictions (i.e. 2 hours of playtime or two weeks after purchase). Wow, basically this is the Cyberpunk 2077 treatment, ouch. I hope MS and Sony follow Valve's lead on this.

I will give CDPR credit though, at time I thought their words rang hollow after that crap release but at least they tried to sound sorry, EA isn't even trying to acknowledge there's anything wrong.

Lets not kid ourselves, its in poorer shape than CP2077. BF2042 is The Broken King. Surpassed everything from the previous generation and not only because its broken, but also because of core design choices and so damn little amount of content, that i can't recall buying a full price title with this little content.

This game is sooooooo broken that the main cheat supplier is leaving the game because their cheats are running like trash in BF2042😂I have never heard of something this ridiculous lol.

I was playing it with friends a few nights ago.

I was in a tank, and it fell through the map. I fell out of the tank under the map and was able to swim around, under the map, spotting enemies from below for my squadmates because I could see through the ground.

after a couple minutes of this, I encountered an enemy player also swimming around under the map. I killed him with my pistol then redeployed.

Wenzen likes Assassins Creed and Battlefield, Ghost likes FPS, usually those games turns shit. Coincidence? I think not.

Imagine making the same game on the same engine for a decade and fucking it up that bad.

Everyone who knew how to work with the engine left the company. They're pretty much fucked now. Wouldn't surprise me if the engine is retired reasonably soon.

It's definitely a worse situation gamewise than CP2077. CP2077 was buggy and severely undercooked but most of the core gameplay loop, atmosphere, sound, and story elements were quite strong. BF2042 is fully incompetent on a fundamental level, the gameplay, aesthetic, and design philosophy are all fucked. CDPR can eventually make CP2077 as good as it should have been by stamping bugs and making iterative system corrections. Frankly though, the only way to "save" BF2042 is to scrap it completely and make an entirely different game from the ground up.

The game is trash, but EA's stance on the matter...

Funny enough I just finished playing 2042, played for about 3 hours straight and didn't really see any glitches. Couple times I seen enemy team ragdoll just standing straight when they died but that's about it. And just twice out of those 3 hours when I got out of a vehicle I couldn't use my sights.

Always nice to see EA and publishers like EA getting rekt. But does that mean EA will pull out of Steam again?

This is one of the many reasons why Steam is better than EGS and why pubs like EGS.

I am soooooo disappointed in this game. I really tried to like it. Making portal modes was fun until they made progression damn near impossible.

Well, this just means a fixed up version will end up on gamepass sooner than we expected.

From what I've read, BF2042 sounds much worse than CP2077's release.

It may almost be approaching Skyrim-levels of bugs and broken features.

All the old devs that made BF special are long gone just like Bioware with Mass Effect.

It's amazing because EA and everyone else knows that people will still buy the game and they will still make a ton of money, regardless. This is setting a very bad precedent.

Those not playing or following it closely cannot and will never understand how broken this game. Watch these. How many online multiplayer games have you see this kind of shit happening? I have never seen this.

LOL everyone's been using that King Ghidorah's meme for years.

Anyway, I don't remember seeing people getting refunds on CP2077 since the PC version was mostly playable and I didn't had major problems with the game. But I think GoG got somewhat more refunds but as I said, can't tell if anyone did ask a refund from Steam. BF2042 is by far the most broken game and I'm super glad I only play little of it through EA PlayPro sub so renting it was a no brainier.

They changed so much stuff for the sake of changing stuff, and it made things worse.

Like 128 players. Everyone is like: But I want to just simply enjoy tactical smaller modes (Rush).

Like 128 players. Everyone is like: But I want to just simply enjoy tactical smaller modes (Rush).

First person takedowns are much better and immersive. However, they want to show off the specialists and the different skins you can purchase. They will most likely charge for more third person takedown animations as well. Everything revolves around monetization now and not what is best for the game. Keep in mind that this is a full priced game and not free to play. EA is the fucking worst.

Tom Henderson explains this really well in his documentary too:

EA was so scared of going for lootboxes, because of public outcry. So they went with other revenue streams instead, like battle pass and specialist system.

Battlefield 1 was the game that worked with lootboxes and it actually had the least amount of compromises from the past three Battlefield games.

They had 4 studios working on this game. All their resources were on multiplayer only since they've skipped the compaign completely. And this is what we got, and months after launch, nothing has changed. Really is something. The fact that you can still climb everything with an hovercraft tells me that they don't give a shit.
