Which series do you think has the best story? For me, its MGS.

I don't know, but I particularly enjoyed the story in No More Heroes.Memorable characters and a great sense of humour :).Knows when to be serious, and when to joke.

I think it has potential, just Bungie doesn't seem to be very good a delivering great stories.
The Mass Effect series has to be my personal fav.

Haha oh wow.
It is. I don't think a lot of the story in Halo is told in a traditional way though, Bungie mostly communicates the story through visuals and sound instead of dialogue. Portal is my favorite, however. Followed by ME.Halo is pretty good imo

MGS1, 2 and 3 were great as far as game stories go. The train wreck started afterwards with Portable Ops and then MGS4 destroyed everything the series ever stood for. I would have answered MGS for this topic had it not been for the latter installments. I dont really have any series I look to for good story anymore, but I guess I'll say Final Fantasy. I really enjoyed the stories a lot in some of their older games. 4, 6, 7, 9, and 10 were great. 12 was good too just the pacing was so bad.[QUOTE="Michael0134567"][QUOTE="Mozelleple112"] hahahaohwow.jpg Metal Gear series for me anyways. It was way too far-fetched and in the end didn't make much sense nor did it accomplish anything other than introducing some new characters. One of the reasons MGS4 was so messed up was because MGS2 screwed up the story so much that no matter how well you damage control in MGS4, it was bound to be ridiculous.Depends what story your going for.
A complicated but intelectually stimulating story?MGS(1-3)
An exciting and well told story? Half-Life, Uncharted
An artistically engaging story? ICO, SotC
However, even Assasin's Creed has a good story if your willing to really tread through it, but I had trouble making sense of it. I don't know the players well enough to follow whatever statement they are trying to make with the games.
I like the overall concepts they had for Halo, though it feels like they're always holding back in the games.
MGS (I'm not even much of a fan, can't stand stealth gameplay, but I love the story.)
Silent Hill (before Origins and Homecoming reared their ugly heads)
Pre-FF7 Final Fantasy
The first Bioshock, Red Dead Redemption, Final Fantasy Tactics, Prince of Persia Sands of Time, The World Ends With You
not really a series, but this gen NIER definitely had the best story. hands down.
as a series, I'm going to have to say zelda.

why thank you 8)
:P it's a shame more people didn't get to experience that game. horribly underrated.
Mass Effect series has a pretty good story going, particularly 1. Halo is also good, but I feel you need to read the books to get the most out of it. I just finished Fall of Reach and in the middle of The Flood. Even though though the Flood is just the novelization of Halo CE, I'm still hooked. Going to order the rest of the books soon.
My personal favourite is the Assassin's Creed series. It is unique, complex and very interesting. Others include Red Dead Redemption and Portal (just because it is so well told).
As for the most underrated story, that title goes to inFamous. Many people see it as a cliche "guy get superpowers" story, but those who have seen the very impressive ending would know that a huge amount of thought and skill has gone into the writing of the story. Hopefully inFamous 2 will be no exception :)

well, it has some flaws and is pretty bad graphically,
but the combat is VERY satisfying, and the soundtrack is easily one of the best this gen. what an epic soundtrack :D and of course the story is really amazing. It's one of those games that everyone should play, you may end up loving it. :)
