For me, it is:

NES: Popularized Gaming, Revived Industry

N64: Analog Control Sticks

PS1: Disc-Based Media

XBox: XBox Live forever changes online play, making it a major factor on purchase decisions.

Wii: Motion Controlled, expands userbase

I have a few gripes with your innovations.

N64: Analog Control Sticks (consoles had an anlog controls long before the nintendo 64, ie. Atari 5200

XBox: XBox Live forever changes online play, making it a major factor on purchase decisions. (Now Wii would not be Number 1 right now if that were true, dont get me wrong I love services like xbox live and psn.)

The printing press would be kind of useless without written language...

True. But it was the printing press that made learning to read written language viable for most people. Before it books were hand written and a collectors thing for the wealthy.

Innovation, not invention. Innovating the stone cutting tool by putting it on the end of a stick to kill from a greater distance, see the difference? I agree with you as far as Inventions though.

PS3-Blu-Ray, Great Story on MGS4

Call Of Duty- Multiplayer Style FPS

EliteCouncilor

Blue ray? What does that have to do with gaming?

Online multiplayer FPS was actually pioneered by Doom. Counterstrike had hundreds of thousands of online players in 1999, a full four years before Call of Duty was released.

I can somewhat understand the Blu-ray part but ... what do you mean by the rest ?
great story on MGS4 ? Previous MGS games had a great story too and there were lots of games with a great story before MGS.

Call of Duty - multiplayer ****fps ? CoD's multiplayer was basicly the same as MoHaa's but that doesn't mean it wasn't great.

I would say:

SNES - shoulder buttons, controller layout to be used with almost every console to come (understandable since it was an amazing controller)
N64 - analog stick, rumble
PS1 - dual analog stick

The microprocessor, memory, motherboard, and video card. The basic foundation for any system that you want to play games on.
