Penumbra Series, Cryostasis and Stalker ( You know what those underground bunkers are like)
Anything else is subpar and not scary. Yes even Dead Space.Revan_911

Dead Space is very tense, but not really scary. Being surprised doesn't constitute being scared. The three games mention really mess with your mind, and are legitimately scary.
Siren: Blood Curse

watch this in Hd. So freaky. It would be even moreso if the guy played in First-person, which I recommend you do if you play it.
I choose this four games:
Cryostasis was amazing, bizarre, but not that scary. Resident Evil 5 and Dead Space was both action games to me. Silent Hill: Homecoming was disappointing, not scary at all. And the new Alone in the Dark was just a mediocre game with an important name, galaxies away from the quality of the originaltrilogy released in early '90s.
And as my signature says, keep an eye out for Amnesia: The Dark Descent: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEHPwAvrc_U
bioshock, fear, and RE 5 are not horror games. The really hasn't been a good scary horror game this gen. Maybe shattered memories, haven't played it yet.
I thought Condemned 2 was much better than Dead Space. Dead Space has its moments but there is too much hand holding.
It would have been better if you had to explore the entire ship without the locator device.
Condemned 2 just feels brutal and raw like manhunt. Definitely underrated.
My favorite horror game of all time is still the original Silent Hill. The third one is pretty good too.

I agree. A pink kitten jumping out and mewing at a louder audio than the rest of things and it has the same effect as the startles in dead space, which are just monsters jumping out with loud audio. It isn't scary, just startling.
Penumbra black plaque it inflicts a sense of fear and dread on you like no other game.
Hope the next game from frictional games, Amnesia the Dark Decent is even better.

BioShock... horror? :lol::lol::lol::lol:
With that said, Condemned: Criminal Origins and STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl come to mind.
I miss when horror consisted of claustrophobic settings, desperate running from enemies, hiding, etc instead of shooters with enemies consisting of mutants that have arms coming out of their chest.
Sounds like Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is a game for you. You run away or hide from monsters a lot in claustrophobi settings and you don't shoot in that game.I miss when horror consisted of claustrophobic settings, desperate running from enemies, hiding, etc instead of shooters with enemies consisting of mutants that have arms coming out of their chest.

Condemned 2 was scary stuff, don't beleive the hate.
But FEAR is the scariest this gen, IMO. If it is a this gen-game.
