Battlefield 3 - Has No Color

Let us All be Honest, Battlefield 3 looks Amazing but No one on here has the Guts to come forward and admit the game has bland colors, so far. For example, comparing the two screens below, both share similar color pallete, but people would auto-Thrash the other screen for lack of any color, just because it's not BF3, even though both share similar colors.

PS this is not a Graphics thread and dont turn it into one, we are all very tired of Graphics threads. and no Crysis pics wanted either

suprisingly, go look at some iraq or afghanistan combat footage. not alot of color either.

Yeh, the color palette isn't exactly a vibrant rainbow ...why does that matter? The art direction is awesome regardless.

Besides, that's just one area of the game, during midday.

This is mashad, Iran, a similar setting to BF3's current offerings.

Though I can agree to some extent, it pretty much just looks like that.

Well I will say this also. The rifle in the vids of BF3 that your carrying, is it me or does it look to much like a stick that your carrying? Looks like a little play toy instead of an actual M4.

But really, right now I'm just figuring out how to get me a new video card for this monster :)

have you ever noticed, during high temp/ sunny days, colors looked washed out and there is a haze in real life

It has a striking resemblance to what you would find in the Middle East...almost as if that is what they are shooting for(pun definitely intended).

People brought up this color nonsense with Killzone. Its a war game in an urban setting...color would be out of place. It isnt Alice in Wonderland.

Wait... there's color in the middle east? Let's analyze...

After looking at these two images, you were either
(A) able to tell the first image is of Iraq and the second is of Afghanistan
or
(B) you thought they were both random middle eastern cities

If you went with B, now you know why there's a lack of color in BF3.

I was about to somehow agree since i'm pretty tired of gray and gritty colors in games like GEOW and KZ, however, that screenshot is pretty impressive and it doesn't need more colors, sorry TC, your thread will backfire HARD.

They're going for realism. How do you plan on them spicing up the middle east? With lush, vibrant jungles? Or do you want the soldier to be carrying a pink gun?

It is bland. It's quite accurate of the Middle East, yes, but doesn't doesn't make it any less bland to me.

I'm not a fan of the ridiculous contrast and saturation in the latest trailer. You're on a lightly colored rooftop in bright daylight, the sky is white. So why can't you see your weapon? All detail is just crushed as everything turns pitch black when a shadow falls on it.

Bright white or pitch black. No color, no definition. Hope the final game goes for more natural lighting/artistic direction. Or you know, go all out with it I guess, make it like Renaissance or something.

Don't forget you're fighting in the US and Europe as well, I expect more color as we see more vids.

Why is this even an issue? Who cares.. it looks better being "bland". Much better than banjo and fable.

you people do know, there are options for Gamma, contrast and brightness. I never get why people gripe over this issue. just change your setting.

certain cities have similar colored buildings that can seem bland. BF3 isn't in downtown LA.
