In-game tests
Basically the event is allowed to start, car accelerates full throttle until just before it hits scenery. Scenery is like-for-like, car AI introduces a variable here. But with two tests full of cars and AI in effect, it's a decent enough indication of performance cross-platform. Note that in Test5, there are no CPU cars as it's a drift challenge.

Wow so technically the PS3 is 00.9% better then the 360 PS3 fans should put this in there sig my console outperformed the 360 by 00.9% and I got .5 more fps then the 360 in games.

You know, there's a reason why Peter Moore said that 720p is going to be the sweet spot for next-generation of games. Would you rather have a greater screen resolution more post-processing effects? 1280x1080 interlaced,progressive or motion-blur? If I were a developer, I'd choose better post-processing effects because the average gamer can't really tell the difference between higher resolution. You know the average one, not fanboys!

I think you will start to care if the framerate hits 60 because of lower detail, AI, and just overall visual quality to go along with a lower resolution.

Those numbers don't mean anything to me. The only thing that matters to me is how good it looks to me. And thse numbers never seem to reflect that.

When presented with evidence, Sony fans rejected it. MS fans appear to be just dealing with it, unless you can show otherwise. i'm pretty much always going to side with quaz51 - he's impartial, and just doing this as a hobbyist for the fun of it. now where are all those guys who disagreed with me when i said NG2 was probably going to be under 720p.. yeah >=D

No. Because those games still look better than all of the Wii games by a moon launch.Also when they are upscaled to 720p or 1080p they don't look like a jigsaw puzzle.

These games still look incredible and this is only the beginning.

Um why does it have to be all or nothing? 1120x585 is still twice as many pixals as 640x480 (max Wii resolution). Just because it doesnt match a standard TV resolution doesnt mean its not a huge improvement.

Sigma was 720p upscaled. (The 1080p res might have been something different but equivalent to 720p). Looks like non dissappearing bodies, bigger battles and better graphics required a resolution drop from Sigma. Or they could have been too lazy to implement tiling in their engine.

Nope. I still play very old games and enjoy them... as long as the game is good and has a smooth framerate (or effects that cover it up well like those in Shadow of the Colossus) I don't care about the texture resolution or amount of MSAA being used to smooth out the jagged edges.

I play games, not graphics.

Huh, yup Sigma was 720p. Must of mixed it up with RR 360's oddball res somehow. Thats still ridiculous for a 360 exclusive though from what most people consider to be a good (if prick-like) dev. I think he just pocketed the money, and dumped NGII assetts into the old NG:B XBOX engine. What did that game run at? I'm suprised MS let this slide.

I play all my 360/Ps3 games in 720p and i have clue if they are upscaled or is true 720p. All looks great and i couldnt care less.

It looks like they dumped NGII assetts into the NGB engine without doing anything to take advantage of the 360. This was a BIG exclusive game that MS paid ALOT of money for, and Itagaki dumped rewarmed crap onto MS's lap expecting them to lap it up. NOW THAT IS ARROGANCE. ... Oh wait, you said ignorance. D@mnit.

ROFL how naive can you be? If a game of this caliber was free I'd hang a portrait of the dev in my bedroom. Get real, they're doing it for themselves first, and for you a distant second.
