With Assassin's Creed 2 just a couple of days away from hitting store shelves my question is, where's the hype? is Ac2 a victim of Modern Warfare 2's shadow?

The hype was pretty much sucked up by DA and MW2. 4 AAAA games(including L4D2) in 1 month is a lot of awesome. Kinda hard to fit it all in.
After all the hype for AC1, which turned out to be 75% boring, I think people are playing this much more cautious.
[QUOTE="heysharpshooter"]I think you meant AAA sir :P, I am hyping AA for this game, got my Black Edition pre-ordered :DThe hype was pretty much sucked up by DA and MW2. 4 AAAA games(including L4D2) in 1 month is a lot of awesome. Kinda hard to fit it all in.

oops, extra A my bad.
I think I spotted the hype just around the next corner. :P
Seriously, for me ...I dunno yet and it's a wait and see for now.
I remember watching my brother play AC 1 one day.
I remember not watching him play the next.
So yeah, couldnt care less about this. But the SW hype is AAA and it'll score AAA.
I'm not hyping it since I thought the first one deserved a 7.0 since you were just doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over again until this game proves that it is more of the same then I'm not hyping it.
It's not Halo, that's why it will suk. Seriously, Lems should be excited they are getting a good game that's not another FPS. :)
It is still a must buy for me, even though I am not sure when I will get around to playing it. As I am far too occupied with Dragon Age right now. When I pick this up next week, I will have Borderlands, MW2 and Assassin's Creed II waiting on the back burner. I swear, I always end up buying more than I plan to. Just the way things work out, I guess, lol.
[QUOTE="furomaster_99"]GTA 4: Ballad of Gay Tony and Forza Motorsport 3 are First Person Shooters now?Oh, I'm sorry....It's not Halo or yet ANOTHER GTA4 (2008 game) expansion. Victim of the first game's shadow.
Lots of weapons to use, in game stores, GTA mission type style, story spans a long time and has a epic plot line, nice looking graphics, better cities then the previous game, tons of new ways of assassinating unlike the previous game. I can't see this game being repetitive like the last simply because of what it's going to offer in terms of story, missions, weapons and combat which are all massively improved from the last game. The last game basically you did the same exact thing nine times over, in this one it's a lot different.

That's exactly right. At least that is the case with me. AC 1 was horrid, and Ubisoft shot themselves in the foot one more time with the same crap in Far Cry 2. It was exactly the same; nice graphics, good features on paper, makes for good trailers, but horrid execution and horrible AI, with repetitive gameplay.
We could have forgiven Ubisoft for a fluke in AC1, but to repeat the same problems so soon in a completely different ip like Far Cry just cemented the problems in our minds.
Ubi bought reviews for the first game...atleast it seemed that way. ;) it was barely an A game, no way AAA . So many flaws.Kan0nF0dderI think Kevin just really really liked that game, he even bought an AC skin for his Xbox (i.e. if he reviewed AC2 we might see a AAAA)
People only hype exclusives here, for some reason. By people I mean cows, and by exclusives I mean Uncharted 2.
Yeah, lemmings don't hype the next Halo or Gears of War and sheep don't hype the next Mario or Zelda. Shame on cows for being so much worst than all the other fanboys. Anyway, there's no hype for AC2 because people don't want to make the same mistake they did with the first game.People only hype exclusives here, for some reason. Well for me I don't want to get my hopes up on the 2nd one being great because the first one looked good at first and from all the previews but when you actually play it it is repetitive so thats why I'm not really interested in it until I find out if they fixed all the problems from the first game.I really like the logic in here.
So according to some, the first one sucked and it means the 2nd one will too right?

Well... more like the first one sucked, so the second one has a higher probability of sucking.[QUOTE="Ninten007"]Well... more like the first one sucked, so the second one has a higher probability of sucking.I really like the logic in here.

It does not work that way. A developer makes an AAA game on their first try. For the second try they make a sub-par game.
A developer makes a sup-par game on the first try, yet the sequel is AAA.
I thought people would know this by now.

Nintendo makes AAA Star Fox game, next try with Assault is is an A game. Sunshine was average, yet Galaxy was AAA.

Theirs a problem with using those two series because Star Fox 64 (EAD) That was AA, Star Fox Adventures (Rare) was AAA, Star Fox Assault (Namco) was A. Super Mario Sunshine was made by (EAD 4) it was A on Gamespot but AAA on other sites, Galaxy was AAA but it was made by a different team it was made by EAD Tokyo.well there was alot of hype behind the first AC but it was the most dissapointing game this gen. AC2 has to regain my trust to start hyping it.
