Are xbox fans poor and holding back the series x and PS5? 75% of xbox sales are series S.

In the recent Microsoft versus FTC documents leak, a new revelation has come up regarding the Xbox sales, and this might be shocking to some. One of the documents from the PDF shows the gaming results of Xbox in April 2022 and according to it, the Xbox Series S accounts for more console sales than the Series X.

Series S has always been debated for not being a next-generation console as it is less powerful in comparison to Series X and PS5. However, it turns out that the different console options have been embraced well by the customers.

According to the “Console Sell-In Mix” in the documents, 74.8% of next-generation Xbox owners own theXboxSeries S and merely 25.1% had the Series X, and since these numbers are from 2022, they could have changed now. However, Series S surpassing Series X in sales is not that surprising. The Series S, although less powerful than the Series X and lacks 4k gaming, is a much more affordable option than the three next-generation consoles.

The Series S console costs $299 or $349.99 if players go for the recently launched 1TB model whereas Series C is priced at $499 similar to the PlayStation 5. The Series S console is a viable option for lots of players and has always been in demand, even when it was limited in stock. Even though it is less powerful, the Series X is capable of playing big games and even if it can not run at higher visual settings, it still does a good job.

As reported byVGC, Xbox head Phil Spencer also stated the previous month that Xbox would not drop Series S for any games. All the titles that will launch on Series X, will also come to Series S. He also mentioned that it is important to have entry-level price consoles andMicrosoftis committed to both its consoles.

Amongst the trove of documents, a new mid-generation Xbox console was also leaked which will be a digital-only refresh for Series X and S. Microsoft has always said that it does not have any plans for any new console but the leaks revealed the contrary. The refresh console is codenamed ‘Brooklin’ with 2TB storage, Wi-Fi 6E, and reduced power consumption.

A redesigned immersive controller codenamed ‘Sebile’ is also reportedly in the works. With the console refresh, the Game Pass will also get upgraded with extra games and new features. For example, the players will be able to stream the games on mobile devices. These leaks reveal the future of Microsoft gaming which seems pretty exciting and gamers can’t wait to see what’s next.

this is very concerning and troubling. to think that the series S is holding back the Series X and PS5, due to majority of xbox owners are series S owners is very confusing, especially when XBOX fans state that the xbox console are for serious gamers.

I just don't understand if gaming is a hobby you enjoy and you plan on having that console for years why not spend the extra money??

People rather not spend 500 dollars+tax(possibly even more than that in some countries) to get an X/PS5 if they don't game consistently or want something to play current gen games at a cheaper price. Where I live both the X/PS5 costs 650 dollars+tax at the moment. If you include any extra taxes you are paying over 700 dollars to buy a series X/PS5. The Series S(512GB) costs like 270 dollars less and the 1TB model costs like 200 dollars less. This is not including a potential purchase of an online subscription or any other items.

No. Their are some people who play games a lot who bought an S to supplement their PS5 or Switch. Their are also people who bought an S who only play games on their S.

Think about it even with the cheap last Gen Series S, PS5 still outsold the Xbox consoles 3 to 1 and the aging Switch outsold xbox around 1.5-2 to 1. Without that last gen xbox user number, xbox could ends up even worse so lems should always be grateful it exist.

Despite I game primarily on PC (with my R9 5900X/RTX 4070/32GB I might add) I still ended up purchasing Xbox Series S just to play old/last-gen games on it and I sold my Xbox One long ago. The Series S is a nice edition for my kids to play on it and I'll sometimes play Rare Replay on it.

What I'm saying is, the Series S has its place in the gaming world, I wouldn't use it for current games and if I wanted a more capable machine, go with the Series X if you want to have a main gaming machine and never skimp for anything. The Series S has its flaws, but it does have a purpose to suit basic needs for the gamer. (And no, this doesn't make me a manticore. I am simply a PC gamer first & foremost)

I always thought the best thing about the PC was options, not enthusiasts parts. I started out with an i5-3470 and a GTX 750Ti, I had a great time with those.

Nothing wrong with the series S, it's a fantastic console. Yes its much weaker but it runs most games fantastic, all those last gen games, and even current gen games run great. The latest games might run poorer or lack features but thats not really a huge deal. The price is right, and it runs games decently enough. Just remember that switch is the best selling console, and it's not even last gen device, it's on the level of Xbox 360.

We knew this like a week ago. Publications rushing to get clicks with misinformation/disinformation is nothing new. But a click or two will get you to the truth. But all folks want to do is read the headlines or look at graphs without reading anything.

Xbox won't release a pro which is strange as Phil Spencer said they will never be beaten on power. I have a ps5 and a series s and nothing available on the s right now has looked out of place on the system. That might change in the next couple of years.

The breakdown is probably pretty even. Years ago the number of Cows vs Lems was like 3:1. Not any more. And today the Lems are FAR more vocal. And more rabbid. But as loyal as ever.

Sounds like Playstation users have so much money they're willing to part with. Sony should have charged $2,000 for the PS5.

It is pretty different to release 2 consoles at the same time that aren't on the same power level. I would have preferred the Series S be equivalent to X and cost $400. Same setup as what PS5 had for disc or digital models. That parity clause has been looking dumb.

@dabear: we might not be graphics whores but we still got the most powerful 12 tflop console and best looking games. It's true. Nothing comes close to MSFS20, forza or halo infinite. The cows are delusional and believe their 9tflop (oc to 10.28 tflop) has better graphics 😆

One of the best looking games of the generation so far is Horizon Forbidden West and it is on PS4 too, so no.
