In my experience most 360 and PS3 multiplats are pretty much the same. I know that most multiplat games are made with the 360 as the lead console (although there are some games that are made for the PS3 first and there are some that are made for both the same time) and naturally, it will probably look slighlty better.

But in most cases they end uplooking practically the same (but cows and lemmings will lie and over exaggerate those slight differences)

Whilethere are a few like Bayonetta andFallout 3 which are terrible ports (although I think Fallout was patched and greatly improved to practically the same as 360) those are just the minority.

What do you think?

There's a huge difference. One plays in a PS3, and one plays in a 360. Can't believe you'd ignore such a glaring difference.

Not really. Of course there are lousy ports here and there but that's been happening forever. Most of the time the ports are patched anyway to make them identical, like Bayonetta was.

It certainly seems like that, I remember there was this Red Dead Redemption argument in which people were claiming that the PS3 version was "massivelly infereior in graphics and gameplay" and they said if you zoom in on your tv enough you can "see" the "differences".

My first thought was "Who plays their games with a magnifying glass?" Like, seriously, is THAT what you have to do to see something like a small patch of grass?

I have the 360 version of Red Dead and I have a friend who has it on PS3 and I was watching him play it. I didn't see ANYTHING "different" about it. Mabey I could have if I used a magnifying glass

 SERIOUSLY!? 400% ZOOM IN THREADS!?

For someone to HAVE to do THAT in order to "SEE" the "DIFFERENCES" definately proves that their argument is wrong.

It is kinda funny but also kinda sad that someone would ACTUALLY do a 400% zoom in to see 1 more rock/blade of grass etc..

I'm still kinda new here to these forums so forgive me as I didn't know that this ACTUALLY happened.

No one does anything. The pics are from other websites which compare the games.

TC, many decades from now, historians (why they will be looking into this issue, even I don't know :P) will look at our old, aging technology, what we consider HDTV's, and look at the PS3 and 360 and they will conclude there was indeed a vast difference.

There is your answer.

Some games. Bayonetta being the worst example, and then there are the lesser bad ports like Red dead redemption being the most recent one I didn't buy. because I don't buy shoddy ports.

But 90% of games are more or less identical.

I notice more loading on PS3, and more installations. Apart from that, and a few well known bad ports, about the same.

If your refering to Bayonetta then I can't really answer as I never played it (nor did I ever want to)

I'm just going by what I heard (although I did hear that it was patched so it looks better now, but again I can't really say)

I do know that Fallout 3 was patched and it definately improved it so now it's basically the same as the 360 version.

Red Dead.

yeah, it's not that bad. I suppose that's just me being stubborn.

I feel like, If a game developer is going to put their game on the platform, and expect to make money off of it, then considering both platforms are so close in power, both games should be identical. If they don't work hard and get that game up to snuff as the other version, they won't get my money. Not like it matters because I'm just one of the few who feel that way.

RDR runs at 640p instead of 720p like the 360 version, has significantly less draw distance, less objects on screen and has more framerate dips.

Call me silly or whatever, but I just won't buy bad ports.

The number of bad ports has decreased drastically. now there's just one every blue moon :)

havnt had a chance to get a multiplat on the 360 yet (i probably wouldnt as i most likely played it on my ps3 and dont see the point just to see the 'graphics') only a handful of games are DRASTICALLY different from the other versions... dunno about the 360 version of bayonetta but the ps3 one got patched and works fine.

The only real difference is the controller some games simply work better with the 360's triggers.

Well I can't verify it as I have the 360 version of RDR, but I remember that my friend who has it on PS3 was telling me that he got extra exclusive gang hideouts on his version that arn't on the 360.

oh yes it does. FF 13 on the ps3 runs at native 720p, and on the 360 it runs at 576p. That's 1.5x a resolution difference.

There's a clear difference between them. It's one of the few multiplats I've seen with a definite visual difference between the console versions.

Not at all. We're not in the days of the SNES versus the Genesis any more. Back then, multiplat's could be vastly different from one another. Look at the Mortal Kombat series, Disney's Alladin, and countless others. Graphical inconsistencies, content differences, sometimes the games felt like completely different titles. Now games are too close to gripe over blurrier textures and more or less polygons in character builds. In very few instances are the differences even noticeable, let alone game changing. And when the problems are framerate and glitch based, there is a good chance they can be patched to level out the playing field. The only reason people whine and moan about which version is better is because they are blind fanboys loyal to one system, and can't see the fact that owning multiple consoles is a benefit to take advantage of system exclusives. And without turning this into a socio-economic conversation, it is usually caused by the fact that people can;t afford more than one system, so they defend their choice to the bitter end. It's all nonsense.

No they don't. In the cutscenes for FFXIII yes, but not ingame. As for Dragon Age, I don't know where you heard that but it doesn't look any better.

Huh? Wrong on both accounts my friend. We are talking about looks here, so...

Let's talk FFXIII. Besides the horrible cutscenes on the 360 port of FFXIII which you do know about, the 360 FFXIII Port also suffered sub HD resolution in GAMEPLAY, compared to 720p resolution for PS3. This was noted at multiple sites. I feel for those gamers that didn't research before purchase and own both machines. Same for Bayonetta 360 superiority to a lesser degree. I thought the 360 port job of FFXIII was common knowledge on the internet and on SW especially. It's really bad the larger the HDTV screen you have, as I've seen it first hand. Remember too, FF series Cutscenes are supposed to be a grandiose payoff in between gameplay, making those cut scenes hurt even more so.

Gamespot is only one of many sites that talked DragonAge differences (Dragonage is AAA on PS3, AA on 360)...enjoy the read. Yes, we are talking about looks because you claimed incorrect information.

I myself, don't care too much unless it's drastic enough like Bayonetta 360, FFXIII PS3, DragonAge PS3, etc. Even then, these aren't that drastic to me that I coudn't play the other versions, it's just that I don't have to worry about that since I have all the machines.

OH NOES! IM GONNA SELL MY 360 VERSION OF DRAGON AGE FOR THE PS3 VERSION NOWS CUZ THERE ARE MORE BRICKS ON TEH GROUND ON THE PS3!!!

(sarcasm) ShadowMoses900

Just to be clear, all I was trying to say is that DA is one of the (few) console multiplats I've seen where the visual difference is obvious. Not that it somehow makes it a massively better version :?

I agree with your OP, just not with Hazzard's post.

Some games have obvious differences in image quality that you can spot right away like in Mafia 2, Bayonetta, Oblivion. Others the difference is slight and you will really only spot the differences if you look for them and know what to look for like in Assassin's creed, Just Cause 2, COD Black ops. And others there is no difference whatsoever and you can look at them side by side all day with a magnifying glass and still not spot a difference (except maybe gamma and lighting differences which doesn't equate to image quality) like in Castlevania: lords of shadow and Need for speed hot pursuit.

So really it depends on the game and how picky you are, but in general for most games there aren't huge differences from eachother..

Not many have a huge difference.
