Anyone picking up Banishers: Ghosts Of New Eden?

I'm actually surprised no one isn't talking about Banishers as this is the same company (Dontnod) who made Vampyr which was a great game back in 2018. And now, there back with a new IP game aka Banishers.

Gamespot Review gave it a 7/10 which is a good score for a new IP by Don't Nod. I'm totally picking this up on Steam.

Pass for me. Way too many other games that I’d rather get and play to be honest.

Solid start for a new IP game. Sadly it's not getting the gaming media attention and it's launching in February 2024 between the other heavy hitters is a bad move. Should have launch this somewhere in March IMO.

Phil Spencer reiterated that Xbox has no plans to leave the hardware industry and will continue making consoles.

One has to applaud Dontnod, instead of being a one trick pony and sticking to what works, they always challenge themselves with something new.

I haven't even seen what the game is like, but that name could be better. They need something snappier, something fresh, something... like this

Can't say I'm gonna jump into this one right now, but I'd like to try it down the road. New ip is the best part of gaming... Especially when that new ip honors inventive gameplay.

It looks interesting. I am concerned of the frequency of walk and talk segments.

From what I heard, this game has interesting ideas, story and choice are the strong points, but the combat is weak, and the execution of those ideas leave something to be desired.

In other words... ...sounds like it's a Dontnod game. These guys have not changed a bit since Remember Me - for better and for worse - have they? Not sure whether to praise or criticise them for their consistency.

So, tempting, but nah. Remember Me left me with a feeling of "what could have been" and "if only they had more."

Not digging the man-bun.

One thing Dontnod does well, is versatility. They are not afraid in doing different genres.

I think I saw something on this game about 3 months ago. Isn't the protagonist dead or something, or am I thinking of another game?

Except Life is Strange is not a "what could have been" game, but an industry influencing title.

Premise is pretty cool. I'd like to play this someday, but who knows if I will ever get to it.

From how it's been described to me, I'm inclined to say; think "Poor Man's God of War." Like, basically trying to do what Santa Monica does with about a tenth of the budget.

Just realized Don't Nod is based in France. I enjoyed LiS 2 and True Colors but now I understand why their plot pacing sucks ass, their studios probably made up of ex Quantic Dreams. Definite skip unless it comes to PS+ or free on Epic.

I've never liked a game from Dotnod. They have always struggled with combat.

Maybe? I tried The Inquisitor demo and I didn't care for it all that much, which makes me feel kind of bad since I was going to buy it until I saw there was a demo. That opens up the possibility of Banishers which I was going to pass up for that game. So its a 50/50 right now. Either way there are a few day 1 games coming, that I'll be getting, within the next couple months.

Yeah, I am. I played through God of War Ragnarok recently and definitely interested in games with a similar combat style.

Pretty much skipped through all the reviews, but ACG seemed to like it.

Dontnod did not make True Colors, Deck Nine did. LIS1 and LIS2 are Dontnod, Before The Storm and True Colors are Deck Nine.

LIS, LIS2, and Tell Me Why had great plot pacing.

Probably not going to get it, but it does seem intriguing.

I think this game would go well on GamePass.

Looks good, runs incredibly well for being a UE5 game but it does not use Nanite or Lumen.

Is this the one that was announced years ago where you control some exorcist chick in middle ages or something? Because while looking at the gameplay it felt that I already saw the concept of this game at least a couple of years ago.

It's basically based on the whole Salem Witch era. We don't get that many games set in the Salem Witch era.

@davillain: There are rumors that the next AC game after Red (which looks interesting as well) is based on witchcraft trials, etc. I really hope it is.

More over the shoulder RPG combat, automatically don't care.
