I haven't been following but disappointing to hear, I was looking forward to a new entry. I'll watch reviews later to see what people had to say about it.

I honestly don't remember seeing Ghost Hype this game. Much less anyone was really excited for the reboot.

Ouch. Unfortunate but I already have way too many other games to play anyway so no big loss.

Game journos can't play games so even if it is bad disregarding it.

It never looked good. It would have been nice if it turned out good, but expectations were low.

Its same as Alan wake 2. part cinematic part combat part walking sim/detactive.

only Alan wake 2 is done right while this is mediocre and rough.

Couldn't care less about reviews. I wasn't expecting it to be amazing. I'll play it eventually.

Shame. A fondly remember reading long articles and having huge posters from Playstation Magazine for the original back in 2002 or so.

Graphically the game looks quite awesome. Lets hope it goes on GamePass sooner rather than later as I refuse to buy a flop lol

Second reboot, there was the 2008 Atari game that had some really, really impressive tech.

I think you're misreading. The PS1 game had Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, which was a reboot prior to this.

As far as I'm aware the original dos game was never released on the PS1.

I still associate Playstation Magazine with PS1.

The Eurogamer review was written by someone who actually played the original.

It got the same score, but they made it sound a lot more appealing. I might check it out for the nostalgia alone - AitD was one of the very first videogames I played.

I don't trust reviews (and Gamesport has some of the worst) I will watch some ganeplay vids and make up my own mind.

Not that I'm counting on it but would be nice to have on of those low scoring gems only a select few can appreciate.

@kathaariancode: Well I googled it now and apparently it was Alone in the Dark 4 (technically known as " The New Nightmare") that released around may 2001.

I just remember it being advertised as "Alone in the dark".

@Mozelleple112: Yeah, I'm a big fan of the original (92) and still play it occasionally and for a second thought there was a PS version I didn't knew about.

Never been interested in the series. Not sure who still is, and why.

Screw it, I got 3 days off in a row now, I'll give it a shot. Cashed in my Xbox Rewards to cut the price in half, let's see if it's as bad as everyone says.

I never played the series myself, but I did however watch the movie of it though. Thought it was ok, if I understood the game's story, I probably would say it was shit.

As much as I love the original, it's pretty light. It deserves love for basically being the start of survival horror, but it's definitely without flaws. Still, I really like how some of the puzzles require reading books, and paying attention. It's got some cool piratey lore, mingled with Cthulhu, all set in a southern gothic backdrop. Come to think of it, it's got a lot going for it.

Honestly, I think it should be mandatory playing for kids. It teaches problem solving, perseverance, how to deal with frustration, not to mess with ghosts minding their own business. You know, life lessons 😁

Alone in the Dark is best remembered for being the first 3D survival horror. There were survival horror games before it, like Sweet Home, but AITD was the first in 3D. In turn, Sweet Home and AITD influenced Resident Evil.

Personally, the only AITD game I enjoyed was AITD2: Jack is Back. I enjoyed it because it was basically about pirates, which is an unusual theme for a survival horror.

Skill Up uploaded his review and recommends it. Which gives me some hope.

DD2 is coming out, and people are paying attention to some irrelevant game made on $30 budget developed in a basement. Its sickening to see this on SW.

I didn't exactly like what I saw, but I'll probably get tye game at some point with a deep discount.
