Hello everyone, I just want to cut straight to it and get down to what's really important under the dire circumstance of a nuclear holocaust.

You get an emergency notice on your phone saying you only have two minutes to seek shelter, and you jump up and in a quick reflex, you scramble to grab any two gaming platforms in your arms and haul them down to your nuclear bunker before the skies turn a blinding flash. Your house and all your other games and consoles unfortunately have to be left to behind.

Which two consoles did you rush to grab and which ones did you have to leave to perish?

How much baggage did your consoles of choice have and did it cause difficulty carrying? Keep in mind all the wires, controllers, games and whatever peripherals you need to get them to play properly.

Which ones did you save and why did you leave your other games stuff behind?

Obv the SFF PC I have with a handle on it 😎

And the MiSTer FPGA for retro stuff because software emulation of of sound chips is for chumps.

I guess the bigger question is: How is everyone transporting their displays? I have a small, portable FHD display.

Not too much in the way of peripherals. I have a 60% mechanical keyboard. Mouse. 8bitdo controller. Few power adapters and display cables. Pair of nice headphones. Shewt, I could carry it all at once.

Prob only the PC and copy of Red Alert Yuri's Revenge.

If the Ruskies find me can just say one of them while the rest of you are lined up and shot in the head.

So there won’t be any internet, right? I’m bringing the Wii U because it doubles as a Wii and damn near a Switch. And then the Sega Genesis/Sega CD/32X. I’m counting that as one consoles…

Wait, there won’t be any electricity…

Don't worry about displays/TV's. Everyone has a perk of having received a brand new screen several holiday's ago that you still have boxed up and it's been in storage in the bunker.

Forget the valuables; I should be more concerned on whether I can survive a nuclear holocaust and that includes bringing available food, water, or any necessities. Also, a nuclear blast would more likely send electric magnetic waves that will short-circuit any electrical devices (including home consoles and any portable device from cellphones to handheld sysrems) I own and make them useless unless I put them in a lead container.

Think carefully, since this is going to be reality by the end of next year.

That said, there probably won't be electricity lol

I've been thinking about what my apocalypse/bunker gaming set up would be since this pandemic started 2 years ago. I think it would be a gaming PC with several SSDs/HDDs with my entire PC game library installed and backed up. If a game needs online activation I'll have a cracked version installed. I'd also have some console emulators like PS1, PS2, PS3, Nintendo Consoles and OG Xbox and have some hard drives dedicated to storing their ROMs saves and backups.

Right now I would grab the Wii and PS3 since those would also have GC, PS2, and PS1 covered. Covers most of my GOATs, and it would be years before I got through my backlog.

But when I get a bigger hard drive for my PC and can have more games installed at once, I'd probably bring that instead.

And for those who keep bringing up electricity, a proper wingnut should have a generator set up in their bunker.

Exactly. This is like survival 101 here.

I would personally bring the console with the most digital games saved in it. Grabbing a big stack of games with just two hands plus bulky consoles and all the cords just isn't realistic to grab in time.

Well, there wouldn't be functioning radio towers, or internet, or any number of other things, so that kind of makes the deciding factors much easier for me.

Honestly I guess if I was pedaling some Gilligan's Island bicycle to keep the tv on (as to not run through my fuel supply) I would probably want to play split screen multiplayer games with my family, so I guess I'd go with the Switch and perhaps the PS2, although the 2nd choice could be replaced by about any number of other consoles pretty easily. (note, this would not be my top two choices in any situation, but this one is different and I think far too deeply into shit.. lol).

I don't have a bunker or a bomb shelter so at least that's not something I have to worry about.

I mean, if I can bring my PC and Deck...

But if not I guess my Dreamcast and PS2 because if they haven't died yet they never will, lol, plus the DC can play burned games easily if I had a few hours to pirate like all crazy dirty hermits do and stock up before the bomb hits

I know you're probably siding with Russia and thus saying they won't do anything crazy, but WWIII has started, and it will end civilization as we know it.

I own a PS5. I must be siding with Putin, right? And do you really want WW3 before the Switch 2 comes out? No, no you don't.

Xbox 360 and PS2, the newer consoles rely too much on online connectivity for games nowadays.

My PC, but if a nuclear holocaust comes I’m really worried about the Steam servers not staying up. 2 min is not enough to download anything substantial. So for that reason humanity should try to avoid such a thing.
