Final Fantasy began with character designs drawn by Yosh*tika Amano (filtered because it has the S word in it >.>), and there is no denying that he wasn’t bothered for technicality and the low-bit characters that Square employees would have to translate them into. His designs are seen by some Final Fantasy fans as more mature than modern day designs, ie. Tetsuya Nomura’s envisions. They have been argued to be “kiddy”, with pointless belts strapped on here and there. While others argue that the new designs are fresh and exciting, something different to your usual fantasy character designs. There is no argument that they are definitely more rememberable, or is that just because we know the character itself better? So what do you prefer? The old artistic designs of Amano or the new age designs of Nomura? Or perhaps the character designs of Akihiko Yoshida Final Fantasy XII by are more your type?
