It might be the same in other sports but I only watch basketball. Anyway they usually use the local anouncers when it's on NBA TV (and league pass I assume). Hearing them carry on about how "amazing" even the simplest of moves/plays their players make is ridiculous.

Of course their players are always getting "fouled" and if the opposing team does something that needs to be reviewed (foul, foot on the line for 3 etc) they're 100% sure it's right  And of course when their team gets calls in their favor theyre overly-agreeing and talking all serious like..."oh yes that definitely the right call".

Even tonight with the Knicks vs Cavs. I watched the Live look in on NBA TV and Cleveland's anouncers just sound stupid. Ive heard them before when Lebron was there but now it's just pathetic. They're so overly enthusiastic saying stuff like "Yes! Mo Williams with the tear drop!...the Cavs can kiss that 10 game loosing streak goodbye". It's like really? This is what your so happy about? How about NOT going on a 10 game losing streak?

Yeah, it happens with all sports at all levels to some degree. Some announcers are a lot better at hiding their bias, but others aren't. You just have to know that going in.

Some announcers are good, some others arent depending on the area. Crazy, I know.

Yeah, definitely. The Western conference team I follow is the Utah Jazz, and their announcers are... wow. Pretty bad when it comes to bias, but yeah. What are you going to do?

Well of course. Steve Raible won't be yelling "TOUCHDOWN ATLANTA" this weekend (although he will probably have to say it quite a few times).

Stacey King and Neil Funk are blatant homers for the Bulls but they're awesome. Stacey King makes me laugh every game.

I like Stu Lantz but I'm not the biggest fan of Joel Meyers on KCAL. I miss Chick Hearn:( As for football, Meryl from the Eagles radio network is really good, I think, but I never hear the game on the radio so yeah

When you have Walt Frazier as an announcer, you really couldn't care less.

"Swish n' dish. Shake n' bake. Slice n' dice" The list goes on. It's much better than listening to other announcers.

spurs, cavs, and heat announcers are some of the worst (owner of league pass for 3 years). Shawn elliott is so freaking bad at announcing. Most local teams are biased a little bit, but the nets and knicks announcers do a good job of not letting bias get in. But they have marv albert and the knicks have Mike Breen

nothing i hate more than commentators who doesn't talk about the other team and doesn't provide an objective play call. It's one thing to be enthusiastic for their team, but its another thing to blatantly side with your team and question every call against their team like an emotional fan. The worst i've heard has got to be the atlanta's, magic's commentary and of course, tommy heinsohn - that guy is ridiculous, i'll never watch a Celtic game with him calling

I never was a big fan of Stu Lantz but at least the Lakers announcers aren't that bias compared to most other teams announcers. I miss Chick Hearn as well :(

What's wrong with local announcers being biased? That's what local announcers do. That's what a lot of people want to hear. It's an added comfort level to a lot of listeners to know that the announcers are on their side. That's the appeal of the local broadcast. Plus a large part of the time, former players for that particular team are the color announcers. Naturally they'd be biased. It would be a different story if the National broadcast showed bias towards a team. For the most part, that doesn't happen. That's the job of the National broadcast.

They should be biased on the local station that's the offical broadcast for a team. It's terrible to me when the national games have biased announcers. Looking at you Marc Jackson :x

You don't watch every game a team plays for twenty years and not be biased. Some take it too far and are stupid, like the White Sox guys, but if I'm watching my team play, I want announcers who have a good knowledge of them as well. I would much rather watch local coverage than national.

Yep they are, obviously, but, as some people already mentioned in this thread, not all to the same degree.

I personally don't mind a bit of bias or "home team flavor", but some announcers are seriously ridiculous. I don't know which one it is because I don't watch their games that much, but one of the Spurs' announcers is seriously bad in that regard. I don't like the team that much, but I always thought the Raptors' ones were funny, if not particularly good.

I'm a White Sox fan and even I agree with this. Well just Hawk Harrelson, everyone else (TV & radio) is fine.

Hehe this thread came back up. Anyway to the people saying...."Isn't that what they're supposed to do?"...I said they're being biased, not that they shouldn't root for their team. There is a difference.

Of course they're supposed to cheer their team on. What I said was annoying was how biased they are. Saying their team/playerswere fouled when obviously they were not. Making out everything their team does to be really amazing when alot of times its just the usual stuff we always see.

Plus just sounding flat out stupid like I mentioned about the Cavs anouncers. Getting all hyped up and everything because they broke their 10 game losing streak. Thats nothing to cheer about. Not the way they did.

Anyway Im glad most of you understood what I was saying.
