[QUOTE="sonictrainer"]Release Date is October 13th for both versionssonicphcOooh. That's, like, a month or two earlier than I would have expected. Now they need to announce more convincing arguments to buy a WiiU or 3DS so I feel less bad buying one...
Arguments for a WiiU/3DS
I could go further and list a bunch of great 3DS games coming out but you get the point and yeah I really get sick of hearing "no WiiU games" thing given we saw how many were shown? Seriously what the hell do you people want?
But enough of my ranting, GS did a rather good vid on it and said they liked how it controlled because of the fact that it was easier to slow down when needed, you know like in the Genesis games where sometimes you had to stop, look at your surrounds and plan the next move as opposed to a lot of the modern games where it was "spam the dash to win"

Sonic Lost World has become eligable for several E3 awards. :)
Almost a whole week with no more new news on this game?! What is this world coming to! Oh, God... I'm on the hype train. I haven't been fully onboard a hype train, and I mean FULLY on board, since, like... Shadow. Yeaaaaaah. Memories...sonicphc
Well one thing I've noticed in recent years is that a lot of games have tried to tone back the hype machine because, seriously it was getting out of hand. Sony showed off a Killzone 2 trailer before the PS3 launched and it didn't get released for like 4 years not to mention it ends up building up impossible expectations that really can never be met. One thing I am noticing now is that more game companies are making a point to show something resembling actual gameplay when they tease a game now as opposed to some CG teaser that we end up waiting 3 years before seeing anything resembling gameplay.
The last couple Sonic games, Sega has dialed back the hype. Look at Sonic Colors, we didn't get a teaser for it until June 2010 and didn't really learn about it until that Nintendo Power issue before it came out that holiday season. Generations was teased a bit earlier and I agree that they showed off a lot more of it as the weeks progressed but they were celebrating Sonic's 20th and all.
I am a bit disappointed that this didn't get to be a part of Nintendo's E3 Direct show but they had a lot of new stuff to show off, probably why IGN got that exclusive peak prior to E3. Had Nintendo Power not ended its run, I'm sure this would've gotten a full feature spread as well.
But we got a good showing at E3 and it will probably stay quiet for a bit and once the smoke from this clears, we'll hear more.
In doesn't make sense news, the game will not have online multiplayer for the WiiU but will have online multiplayer for the 3DS.

Honestly I don't play a lot online anyway and Sonic's not exactly a series I buy for the online multiplayer. Still it's odd that the 3DS has it and not the WiiU version though I'll assume that we'll probably have leaderboards and some sort of Miiverse integration.
They turn the world pixalated and allow you to....uh....become Classic Sonic?
Sorry, trying to make a Saturn joke.
They demoed it in the DS videos on IGN. It forms a spinning ring around sonic, which breaks apart any enemies (and sometimes walls) it touches and turns them into tiny cubes, adding them to the ring. It also allows Sonic to hover/float/fly upwards depending on the size of the ring. It's probably this game's replacement for Frenzy, which was really hard to control in Colors.Looks like we have a new wisp. Saturn power?
kbaily
FUNNY YOU SAY THAT. In another SEGA series, one of your attacks is to crash the moon into the enemy. Skies of Arcadia to be exact.
So it wasn't just me that had a hard time with that one... Also, it was kind of made extinct in the end anyway thanks to them all being changed back. Anyway... I spy an evil moon. Does it crash into the planet or anything? :Pbarren167
It appears Sonic has met with a terrible fate.
Also the Archie Comics are going to do a Lost World storyline coming up here (I assume when the Mega Man storyline is done) and it looks like some characters might be getting a slight design change.

New Trailer on IGN today that shows some new footage and Color Powers.

Even though I have a 3DS and it's mostly the same game, I'm still really wanting to get this for WiiU so I guess the WiiU has the first game that really made me want the system but then again I'll be getting WWHD, the new Mario and Smash as well as downloading Earthbound here so that's enough to keep me busy a while.
But it appears that they saw which powers were good in Colors and which ones were disposable (Spike, hover, Frenzy was too hard to control) and replaced them with better powers which is good. It shows Sega is continuing to learn with each new "main" title. I think a lot of us hope that this game also is longer than Generations or Colors was that we can get a good 20 hrs out of it that isn't filled with fluff but then again Colors and Generations had high replay value and I see this having that as well. Also I am glad that so far the Deadly Six don't have horribly annoying voices. The red one actually sounds rather threatening. "Why don't you just lie down and DIE!!?" So clearly he's the leader though I want to hear the emo one say "hey, life is so pointless. I'm not going to fight you. I just want to sit here and cut myself."
Also for discussion points I figured I'd post Brainscratch's impression vid of Lost World and most of them were pleased with it and surprisingly not going into some bellyaching about it only being on WiiU probably because they'd all buy it anyway just for Smash Bros. next year.

lol mentioning Animal Crossing: New Leaf fake out at the start which is highly addictive for me. But also joking about how the Deadly Six look like Skylanders and mentions the Emo looking one. Seeing as how the little animals are collectables and the slight change to the plot of Eggman's demon monsters running out of control at the beginning instead of the end.
Also the comment that I think everyone agrees on that while it might be somewhat of a Mario Galaxy ripoff, it doesn't seem to bother anyone because, well the 2 Galaxy games were great and since they're not making Mario Galaxy 3, having Sonic in Mario Galaxy esque levels is fine with me. I think GT made the point that for the first time in maybe forever the Sonic console game is outshining the Mario console game.
Also they're stating how it's time Sega tries to bring playable friends back but fearful of the backlash still but suggested taking Super Mario 3D World's approach and having them be optional and each one playing a little differently but none of this mech or frog fishing or Emerald hunting crap.
Sonic: Eh, I was going to lay down anyways. Listening to your death threats may actually make me "die" in boredom.
Well, I don't think this is a Mario Galaxy rip-off. Sonic's been to space all his life so it's a difference to me. *shrugs shoulders*

"Sonic games have to have a casino world, right? We got an early look at a newly revealed world in Sonic Lost World on the Wii U called Frozen Factory here at San Diego Comic-Con. Despite the name, it's a full-blown casino zone.
Remember Casino Night from Sonic 2? What a great stage (with great music), right? This one looks to be just as fun.
As you might have learned from previous coverage of Sonic Lost World, the stage names don't quite fit the locations. Sega told us that we'll get a better idea of how the names fit with the worlds when we see the full thing. Think of it this way: this casino zone is a place in the Frozen Factory.
Frozen Factory certainly didn't look frozen or like a factory, instead looking and sounding like an overgrown casino, complete with huge poker chips and coins and deadly spinning dice. Even more deadly are the lasers that shoot out from the walls and weave their way into your running path. If you hit them, your rings go flying as you are electrocuted.
For Frozen Factory, make up for more of the challenge than the enemies do. Most go out with a single bounce, save for one ball-shaped enemy with a shield that required running around his back to kick him to knock him off guard.
There are little silver coins that you can pick up for points scattered around the stage. They're not like rings, though. At certain points in the stage you can cash them in for access to other parts of the stage. They float in the air above and behind Sonic, growing in number in a sort of coin cloud.
Early on, I was able to cash in coins for access to a pinball segment of the stage. Of course, this pays tribute to past Sonic games -- you'll even see Miles' name in the stage decoration. The first bit I saw was actually mandatory -- I had to flip Sonic into a certain catch to get out of the pinball machine area and back into the stage. There are also hidden optional pinball stage sections to find on your own, Sega tells us.
The rest of the stage had me running from huge runaway slot machine wheels. I was able to use Sonic's new parkour moves to run along walls to dodge these and other obstacles. Some zones had numbered rings to run through, with progress permitted only after running through them in order.
Just as we've seen with the other stages in Sonic Lost World, this is situated on a cylinder that can be explored fully as you progress down it. Running alongside another edge or its bottom will reveal alternate paths.
The last bit of this stage had me dying a couple of times. Those wall lasers I told you about earlier came out in a big way in the last stretch, doing a sort of Tron thing, beaming out from everywhere in front of me to hinder Sonic's progress. A bell bounced around between multiple laser paths, beckoning you to follow it and ring it along the way. This required some tight platforming jumps to bounce into path clearings to follow it. I made it through after a couple of tries. After this, one final dodge through a fleet of huge rolling slot reels had me finishing the stage.
Oh, and the music is just as casino-y as you'd imagine. Fantastic stuff -- brassy and upbeat toe-tapping stuff.
I'm glad to see that Sonic Lost World has a casino in it. I wonder what else they have in store for us."
