Best English Voice #3 *Drum Roll* Sonic,Sonic the Hedgehog.

Last weeks poll had Mike as the winner,with Cummings as second favorite.

This Weeks is what we all have been waiting for,and what I have been stalling for:Sonic the Hedgehog. You can vote for Jaleel White(Sonic Cartoons) Ryan Drummond,Jason Griffith,or Roger Craig Smith.

I'm voting for Roger here,he makes Sonic sound even more like a pretty cool guy..I'd say his voice grew on me quickly.

I will await the war between the supporters of 2-3 of these voice actors.

I'm gonna have to get back on my vote, I honestly am having a tough choice between good ol' Ryan and Roger. I mean both do a good job of portraying Sonic's attitude in the time period he is at. Ryan did a great job for Sonic as a fun-loving adventure-loving carefree character who still defeat any evil that gets in the way, while Roger does a great job of portraying an older Sonic that's been there, done that, and likes to make jokes about his past (mis)adventures.

OK, ok, I'm choosing Ryan.

Okay so after considering everything, I'm going with Drummond.

I just like how perfectly portrayed Sonic's attitude was in the Adventure games thanks to his voicework.

Drummond did a good job though the current actor seems to be getting the hang of it. A lot of us old school fans though always seem Jaleel White as Sonic just because that was the first time he was given a voice just like as much as many of us like Charles Martinet as Mario, I still liked his old cartoon show voice better. At least that voice would've been tolerable for converstations.

What about that high pitched nasally voice for Sonic from the anime movie? No?

Or how about the voice in Sonic Schoolhouse? Best voice Evvvaaaarrrr!! j/k

There's a teaser and you can hear his voice but mind you it's been 20 years so he probably doesn't sound the same as you may remember.

It used to be REALLY bad the hatred for Jason Griffith when he replaced Ryan Drummond. Go on youtube and enter Sonic/Ryan Drummond/Jason Griffth and watch the hate flow like wine.

The story goes was Ryan was cast to do Sonic's voice for the Dreamcast games when they decided to allow Sonic to talk and Drummond was the voice all the way up through Sonic Heroes. When 4Kids was going to bring Sonic X stateside, Drummond tried to sign on as Sonic's voice for the English dub but because he didn't live in NY, it wasn't feasable so of course totally different voice actors were hired to do the anime dub and of course fans had a fit over that. (never mind us old school fans who wanted Jaleel White) Though 4Kids is throughly hated among anime fans anyway for their bad dubbing and horrid editing of a lot of anime. Essentially Disneyfying anime for the uptight parent groups fearful of violence or demonic symbols because it's just not American if you're not being offended by nothing.

Then the actor that voice Eggman in Sonic Adventure-Sonic Heroes passed away so Sega opted to simply ditch their old voice actors for the 4Kids voice cast mainly due to the populairity of Sonic X did for better or worse attract some newer, younger fans to the series who probably seemed confused between what they saw on TV and what was in that game they played (probably Heroes). This was when the s*&% hit the fan for some fans. I mean some fans singlehandedly blamed the downfall of the series on Sega replacing the cast with the 4Kids actors. Yeah I know, stupid isn't it?

But the stupidity doesn't stop there. When it was revealed that Sonic would be joining the Super Smash Bros. Brawl cast, a MASSIVE fan petition went out to get Nintendo to have Ryan Drummond do Sonic's voice for SSBB since it was Nintendo's project not Segas. I'm serious. Looking back now, this was rather amusing considering there was little to no voice work in SSBB and there's the fact that Kirby and co. had different voices than from their 4Kids cartoon made for a somewhat valid argument and supposedly Nintendo did try to get Drummond but Sega said no. Of course Sonic's voice was nothing compared to the horrid voice they gave to Pit. (or Other M Samus for that matter) And people wonder why Nintendo doesn't do voice work in their games too much.

Sometime after SSBB, the whole Drummond/Griffith thing died down. Maybe fans just got over it, who knows. And nearly everyone seems like like Sonic's new voice better and the fact that Tails no longer sounds like a girl. And I still like to joke that Sonic sounds like his testicles finally descended.

I actually never hated the 4kids voices(save it for some parts in 06,)maybe because I was a kid who used to watch Sonic X,a show that was on...4kids.

Yes,I saw the Fox Box blow up and turn into 4kids.

White has outlived Sonic, and it's time to move on.

For the first time in my Sonic fandom, I read someone who wanted the Adventure voices back, and I wanted to strangle him. I told him Roger was a good replacement and it was the first time I heard the ENTIRE cast and went "It's like talent swept in and ate the 4Kids actors."
