topic

aside from playing Counter Strike on PC as a kid..I also grew up playing PS1 and these are the games that brought me to gaming life today.

they are

  • Kaettekita Cyborg Kuro-Chan
  • Irritating Stick{Shtick}(yes this is also a game..a game of PATIENCE)
  • Dino Crisis(Resident Evil's substitute)
  • Bishi Bashi Special(WarioWare before it's cool, and my goodness I can spend 3 days straight with this!)
  • Klonoa: Door to Phantomile
  • Megaman X6
  • Pepsiman(yes this is a game)
  • Point Blank(the best shooter game I have ever played)
  • Rising Zan: The Samurai Gunman
  • Einhänder(god awful it's so hard)
  • Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time
  • Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Return(way too easy to beat it 38 times)
  • Project: Horned Owl
  • In the Hunt(a submarine side-scrolled shooter,easier than Einhänder )

showcase yours

There are no 'PSX games', it's a PlayStation 2 with a DVR component and some other stuff.

The PSX is simply a very fancy PS2 which was only released in Japan, so it should by nature play PS games.

I don't buy that, I think people just attached that X descriptor to it on their own to give it a distinction when they're talking about it, I've seen nothing to indicate that it was any kind of internal designation.

have you give it a try first? if it can then I will put it as a yes..just an information, not all titles are playable,as there's what we would call regional exclusives,JP releases may hid something Japanese people understand and we English-speaking gamers don't

sometimes Japanese games have Japanese dark humor to it,so that's why we can't see it getting a translated version as easily as one think and hoped for

  2. Ape Escape
  3. Mega Man X /4/5/6
  4. Beast Wars Transformers
  5. Spyro The Dragon/Spyro 2: Riptor's Rage
  6. Crash Banbicoot 2/3
  7. Mega Man Legends/2

@Smashbrossive50: i've played some emulated JP games, it took me about 5 minutes to figure out how to start the games but as long as it wasn't like Legend of Zelda that the things the people say actually is crucial from time to time it was great :D

@dylandr: sshhh..don't talk the emulated part loud, the mods might hear you, pretend you played it on the console,it's also depend on game genres, Japanese shooters didn't took too long to start, but RPG...oh boy...I'd go nuts as what's the party setup says and what's the ultimate magic is in Japanese.

Tekken 3, it was my first game on the PS1. I had no memory card for the first year so I every time I played I had to keep on unlocking characters. I'm not into fighting games anymore but I can still go for a round of Tekken.

Other than that Persona 2 IS & EP, both of which I played in 2013. They still hold up and have an amazing story with a cast worth remembering.

Mega Man X4, X5 and X6
Tekken 3

Other than these games, I'm not sure what my favorites would be.

Trivia time!

The original Playstation was often abbreviated as "PSX" before the miniature version, the PSOne, was released, but even then, the console in the second picture has been known as the PSX well before another Sony console utilized that abbreviation, the PlayStation X. It was never sold by Sony outside Japan and it sold poorly, there, so the original Playstation continues to have that abbreviation as part of its accepted names throughout the world.

which is why I tried to convince nyadc about why the PSX is the PS1...he just don't get the memo.sure it's sold poorly, but judging by the size of the "PSX" it should be used as an inspiration to a new PS in the coming years..not to drop it dead,it's a darn waste if you ask me.

Strictly speaking, especially in the USA, PSX was the tentative official name prior to launch for a little while as well - SCEA used it as an alternative branding to playstation in some ads pre-launch by ultimately dropped it prior to launch in the end. By comparison, in Japan PSX will refer specifically to the video-recorder-cross-PS2. There's no real surprised that the western world links PSX to the PS1 instead really, it was very much a thing long before the JP-only PSX or the PS2 were released. The PS1 abbreviation became more popular after the PSOne release, but PSX is still used at times.

To keep it short I would probably go with Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Final Fantasy IX , Parasite Eve, Tomba 1&2, and Vagrant Story.

On a sidenote, when was this board brought back? I could've swore GS removed the retro boards along with alongside scaling down unions during the site restructure a while back.

The old legacy board is still here but hidden away where almost no one sees it. This retro board just came up recently. Should get a lot more activity being on the main board page.

I'd have to say symphony of the night. That game was simply amazing even on today's standard
