Crash Team Racing - Best Spin-Off EVER?

Hi everyone. Everyone knows how spin-offs can turn out. They usually are just a cheap cash-in on the popularity of a game, and in some cases, something horrible gets made (cough link faces of evil cough).

But sometimes, a miracle happens, and things like Crash Team Racing come out. My question: is this game the best spin-off of all time?

No, Mario Kart would be the greatest spin-off of all time. Crash Team Racing just copied the Mario Kart formula for their mascot.

I wonder why Naughty Dog didn't release Unkarted.

@Valkeerie: Cause it would be lame. CTR was awesome for what it was, a rip-off.

I actually like Jak X: Combat Racing more than CTR.

Is Smash Bros a spin-off?

CTR was a fantastic Spin-Off and so was Crash bash (extremely underrated). But my personal favorite spin-off would be Theathrythm. Final Fantasy has so many fantastic songs, a rythm game is a no brainer.

I don't think I'd call it the best spin-off of all time, but it definitely was a great game and a solid last hurrah for Naughty Dog working on the Crash games.

I've always thought of Final Fantasy Tactics and Crystal Chronicles as amazing spin-offs, although the entire Persona series is actually a spin-off of SMT as well...
