Trump Loses Bid to Block Grand Jury Testimony by Ex-Advisers - Bloomberg

A federal appeals court has denied former President Donald Trump’s latest bid to block some former White House advisers from testifying before a federal jury investigating efforts to undermine the 2020 presidential election, court records show.

Trump has been appealing a ruling from last month rejecting his executive-privilege challenge to efforts by Special Counsel Jack Smith to question former top administration officials. The proceedings are largely sealed, but a person familiar with the matter confirmed information about the appeal.

On Tuesday, the appeals court entered an order denying an emergency motion from Trump’s legal team to stop the lower court ruling from taking effect.

A spokesperson for Trump and for Smith’s office did not immediately return requests for comment.

ABC News reported earlier that the case involved testimony that prosecutors want from several former Trump officials including Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, who was subpoenaed in February, National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien, Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, and Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino. Other officials in the case included former senior adviser Stephen Miller, aides Nick Luna and John McEntee, and Ken Cuccinelli, who had been with the Department of Homeland Security.

Even more Legal woes for Trump. He should have just played by the rules and did everything by the book or all of this bullshit wouldn't have piled up.

Dude has been having legal problems for decades now, and it's almost always all due to his own idiocy.

Yup, several legal problems going back decades. Just constant shady practices non stop. So it's impossible to say this is all because of "muh politics".

Read that several of his Secret Service detail are also going to testify in something-or-other, for the Mar-A-Lago investigation I think. Hard to remember, he's got a lot of legal woes pending.

@horgen: there's going to be an advantage afforded to him simply for having been president but he's tested those limits to their fullest, his problem is he doesn't know how to keep his head down, or not self incriminate for that matter.

I mean, here we are long after his attempted coup and the Mar-A-Lago raid and he's still walking around crying how he's a victim without having yet faced legal accountability. But it looks to be on its way.

Just before this gets too off track, please remember that Trump is being charged with influencing an election via hush money payments.

Trump is not being taken to court for:

  • Being Republican
  • Being alt-right/far-right/extremist
  • Misinformation
  • Being an "outsider"
  • Draining (or attempting to drain) the swamp
  • Being an enemy of George Soros, Bill Gates, Hilary Clinton, or the "Deep State".
  • Cheating on his wife with Stormy Daniels, or anyone else

So let's keep the sensationalism, tinfoil hat stuff, and victim complexes to a minimum.

And before you ask, no, I don't care if he cheated on his wife. I mean, I do care a bit since it's a low-class scumbag thing to do, but I don't care in the big-picture sense. If Bill Clinton slept with Monika Lewinsky and paid her hush money (and it was illegal to do so), then I would care...but do I care that Bill Clinton slept with Lewinsky? Not really.

Likewise, with Trump, I don't care if he was a scumbag cheater. I care that he is possibly corrupt.

Yes, the odds are definitely not in favor of the people, historically speaking. That, and no single US president has ever been indicted. Plenty of other democracies have done it to their former and even current presidents and heads of office, though....

As I've been saying, however: if we can just get Trump into court where he has to speak, he will fail. The trick is getting him to actually get inside the court room.

Fortunately the list of good lawyers and advisors is getting short (some of which have gone to jail already, or have been charged), so who knows what will happen.

I reckon we will see a lot of truth come from them.

Trump probably imagined that secret service was like his royal guard and they took a death-vow of secrecy.

Nope. They heard it all, saw it all...and they will tell the truth if ordered to do so.

@mrbojangles25: I'm up in air one that as going either way, they certainly weren't forthcoming during the Jan 6th investigation, proactive steps were taken to scrub the records on their end too from the Secret Service, so, who knows

Yes. It's rather depressing that so many of our government agencies had corruption under trump. Which is why we cannot have him, or others like him, in power in this country again.

How can anyone not see this is the establishment using the legal system to try to stop a candidate from running.

If it was anyone else but Trump, Clinton, Bush, Obama, Biden. They would never do it to the establishment candidates that play along.

If they want to weaponize the DOJ to stop Trump from running it won't look good for them. I'd go as far to say it's election interference. These charges will go no where. And what should be done about that?

If you can just throw lawsuits, lawsuits, lawsuits, lawsuits, at a political candidate. Lawsuits that end up being frivolous, bare no returns.. shouldn't those pushing it be punished? That kind of system is unsustainable. It's very "banana republic" esque.

It's desperation by those in power and have been in power for decades. They feel threatened by Trump's populist movement. He will actually try to change the status quo and it scares them.

This has nothing to do with the DOJ. But if the DOJ finds a president did something illegal, I would expect them to charge them. The US prides itself on being a country of law and now Republicans are against that. Go figure. They must all be guilty of something.

1. Provide citation. Your posts are full of garbage, I need a reliable source showing the legal matter in the OP is unjust or unfair.

2. Legal affairs of Donald Trump - Wikipedia This behavior is spanning decades. Before he was POTUS.

@sargentd: Hang on, so are you saying that (1) the legal system should ignore crimes Trump has allegedly committed because he's a political candidate, or (2) the legal system should *also* chase up Democrats for their alleged crimes?

Also, why would the left want to stop Trump from running? It would pretty much guarantee a second term for Biden.

No. If I was worth billions I would not scam contractors, scam my own charity, run a scam college, have to settle racial bias cases, cheat with ugly porn stars and then try to kill their stories through shady means, use a fake electors plot, cause a riot at the Capitol, get impeached twice, and have 20+ sexual assault allegations. This is not normal and/or expected.....wtf? Not these types of legal affairs and certainly not this amount:

  • Inside the government’s racial bias case against Donald Trump’s company, and how he fought it - The Washington Post
  • Trump Organization convicted in executive tax dodge scheme | AP News
  • Dozens of Trump’s phony electors, many under investigation, still hold powerful GOP jobs in key states (nbcnews.com)
  • A Win by Trump! No, by Tenants!; Battle of the 80's Ends, With Glad-Handing All Around - The New York Times (nytimes.com)
  • The 26 Women Who Have Accused Trump of Sexual Misconduct (businessinsider.com)

  • Widowed Homeowner Foils Trump in Atlantic City - The New York Times (nytimes.com)
  • TRUMP HIT WITH RACE SUIT BLACKS: DON DEALT US OUT OF CASINO JOBS – New York Daily News (nydailynews.com)
  • Federal investigators examined Trump Media for possible money laundering, sources say | Donald Trump | The Guardian
  • Donald Trump will face child rape charges in court, says lawyer for alleged victim | The Independent | The Independent
  • FOR TRUMP, 250G FINE IN LOBBYING – New York Daily News (nydailynews.com)
  • SEC says Trump obfuscated earnings - Jan. 16, 2002 (cnn.com)
  • USA TODAY exclusive: Hundreds allege Donald Trump doesn’t pay his bills
  • Dozens of lawsuits accuse Trump of not paying his bills, reports claim | Fox News

  • Judge Approves $25 Million Settlement Of Trump University Lawsuit : The Two-Way : NPR
  • Donald J. Trump Pays Court-Ordered $2 Million For Illegally Using Trump Foundation Funds (ny.gov)

And more.

Expecting him to not get into legal trouble over this zany ass shit because he's a rich white guy?

I do not know of any study that shows THIS amount/type of legal trouble directly from shit-tier behavior is common among the rich. The guy is a sleaze bag all around. Why are you defending a majority of that. It's like you have to genuinely hate humanity to defend many items on the list.

Imagine being mad at the courts and the law rather than Trump for decades of this shitty behavior.

P.S. He's only worth that much money because his sleazy Dad. NY Times: Trump got $413M from his dad, much from tax dodges | AP News Silverspoon brat who can't stop doing shady shit since the 70s. Between Trump and Tucker, you sure love elitist silverspoon brats.

Anyway do you have any legal reasoning as to why the situation in the OP is unfair or unjust? It seems like you lack facts for your position. As always.

Well, come on now, Stormy is far from ugly (plus, it implies that you would happily cheat on your wife with an attractive porn star) and she's certainly more attractive than Melania.
