Trump is a Democrat who took the opportunity to fool an entire political base into believing he was their savior. He appealed to the lowest denominator of this country. That's what got him into office.

What's he got left to lose? Those who support him will continue supporting him even if he starts ending his press conferences with white power solutes. There were two cases.. One in the 80's, the other in early 90's that set the bar for how much (deadly) force the police can use and basically get away with. That won't change under Trump or after the 2020 election I believe.
