I mean, let's just make a reasonable prediction that it's going to happen in next few days or next couple weeks, seems he can't touch anything without making a disaster out of it. I have no reason to believe he's going to go to Texas while it's still raining and flooding, which I hear might keep up for the next week. But afterwards, you think he's going to go down there for a photo op? To give a speech?

And, well, if he's going to go there to give a speech, that's where he seems most unhinged, when he gives speeches and just doesn't stop talking. What will he talk about? Rebuilding? Making jobs rebuilding? But first we need to keep the Latinos out and build a border wall so they don't take those jobs? Defending pardoning Joe Arpaio's disgusting racial profiling? Or that Trump can't pass a budget until he gets his border wall made? Fake news is treating him unfairly? The Russia thing is a lie? Badmouths fellow Republicans that don't have his back? Pretty much foaming at the mouth like Cujo.

Come on, it's gonna happen, right?

@lamprey263:

He's already using it as cover to slip a few things on his agenda through the cracks. Then when all is said and done, he just might make an appearance to give one of his little speeches. I say might because apparently there's alot of things he just doesn't give a shit about. Like people lost at sea. Too bad, so sad.

There is currently a budget fight splitting the GOP over the US flood insurance program.

On one side are the inland Republican officials who view this as big government overreach and a waste of taxpayer dollars.

On the other side are the coastal and riverbed Republican officials who recognize that they get far more out of the program than they pay in.

How this plays out - and how Trump handles the disagreement during the upcoming budget negotiations - is anyone's guess.

By being himself. The US is being run by a literal clown for a President. He's a great source of amusement, but when you realise this person is actually running the country, it's not so funny anymore.

Of course the coastal and riverbed Republicans like it. They really get their money worth.

Whatever he would have done to overshadow it seems to be overshadowed so far by the reaction both CNN and MSNBC had in regards to the news that came out of the White House Friday night. While most other networks were putting all of their coverage on the devastation, CNN and MSNBC didn't want anybody to forget that Trump is president and we should feel bad as a result. CNN went as far as saying Trump actually wanted his Friday night announcements to overshadow the hurricane. They also preemptively blamed Trump for any deaths that happened, by claiming that people that didn't listen to warnings from the media to flee the area for their safety did it due to them thinking that the dangers of the hurricane were "fake news" based on previous statements from Trump, a statement that MSNBC repeated.

More recently, someone on MSNBC went after Trump's pardon of Arpaio, claiming that this is only the beginning and that he may "weaponize" his pardoning power by promising anyone that refuses to cooperate with the Russia investigation a pardon for any potential charges their refusal to cooperate would result in. Don't get me wrong, I don't think that Trump should have pardoned him. While it's not impossible to believe that Arpaio's charges were slightly political in nature (he was trying to enforce immigration law during an administration that a few years prior tried to push an amnesty bill through Congress), Trump should have done nothing and just let Arpaio appeal his charges instead, because the pardon just tells people that they can break laws the administration doesn't agree with and they can expect a pardon after their conviction.

Understand you are dealing with children masquerading as adults. These youths are still trapped in a perpetual state of denial that he won and their girl lost and as such, anything he does is harmful and wrong. Some will believe such poppycock and others will recognize the agenda.

Poppycock is believing anyone is thinking of Clinton now. He's being judged on his job record which is abysmal.

You lefties need a pacifier already because anything he does, anything, is crucified by the left and IMO, that means he is doing something right if he can so easily and, at will, get under your skin. Trump was being attacked for saying the feds and state government of Texas were working well together and how both are prepared and ready for whatever needs to be done.

I remember months ago when your big mouth loudly proclaimed Trump was going to lose PA since it was such a pivotal state. Your mouth went into full silent when your prediction did not come to fruition. Watching your head explode each and everyday he is President is like the gift that keeps on giving.

"Republicans better come together to repeal Obamacare/build wall or I'm witholding federal reconstruction funds!"

How sad is it that I don't even find this to be far out of the realm of possibility with this piece of shit. His idea of governance is to threaten and bully like the spoiled child he is, at the cost and suffering of others.

Pretty sure the Mayor told residents to stay put and indoors.

I also don't agree with Arpaio's pardon but if you undo that one then you need to put Chelsea Manning back in prison to finish their sentence. The latter got a harsher sentence than I think was deserved, but the law was the law, and both were officials in charge with our nations security in some sense or another in some segment of our government whether by federal, state, or military. Both broke the law, and both have been pardoned.

Pathetic and disgusting. No, not Trump, but the leftist that populate this board. Here we have one of the largest metropolitan areas in the US undergoing a natural disaster of epic proportions and all you can do is come here and bash Trump. There are hundreds of thousands of Americans displaced, many of whom may not have a home to return to and you sit there in the comfort of your home dreaming of all the ways you can blame Trump. Party over people right guys.

The guy you're defending just said he pardoned Arpaio during the hurricane because he thought the ratings would be higher.

He did this in spite of people dying from the huricane. Are you similarly disgusted?

Whoa, hold on guys! Stop discussing politics and hold leaders accountable. Something happened!

Let's forget that the last time a hurricane hit it was on the east coast and Republican Congressman debated withholding emergency funds. Just listen to Chris Christie. He'll tell you.

But yeah, discussing politics is beyond the pale.

@Serraph105:I am not defending Trump. I am calling out those of you who would use a natural disaster to push a political agenda. There is already a thread about the pardon. I have no issue with you hammering Trump about his timing in that thread and even agree with you that it was also disgusting.

@mattbbpl: I never said stop discussing politics. I said you are disgusting and pathetic for politicizing an ongoing disaster in order to further your own political agenda. For doing the same thing you accuse the right of doing during Obama's term. This thread isn't about holding anyone accountable. Its a leftist fantasy thread where you get to make up a scenario and then bash your political opponents based on the made up scenario. If you want to bash the administration on the way they handle it, that's fine, but wait until it's at least stopped raining.

@LJS9502_basic: Ha, prove it. I've read your posts. You whine like a Republican during a Democrat administration.

Could it be a turning point?

Nope I don't think so.

I am not a fan of President Trump. Also I am not a fan of how he is marveling at the majesty of the storm while seemingly not giving enough words of compassion. Having said that I must give Pres. Trump credit for going down to Texas and encouraging the citizens of the country. I don't like that he treated it more like a political rally than a call to action but hey at least he came there.

His visit to the areas affected in Corpus and Houston was immediate. Must give credit where its due. Trump also said that this will be the fastest national response to a natural disaster in history.

Let us all hold him accountable to that and hope our nation is able to assist those ravaged by this disaster.

So now Trump is to blame for a hurricane? lol

Liberals crying about Trump nonstop is getting kind of old everyone already knows you partisan fanatics are just going to criticize Trump no matter what he does. It's really petty and childish and of no use to political discourse in this country other than to divide people. The disaster is still on-going and Liberals are already taking advantage of the situation to try and politicize it against Trump, revolting. The Democrat party is the party of hate.

While i dislike the R&D blame game, i would like to point out that over the past 8 years we actually saw republicans blame Obama for the Iraq war and the financial crisis. "Blame Obama" became a great meme because of how often we saw republicans (including republican "news" outlets) blame Obama for everything. Historical events, personal incidents, etc. Hell, they even tried to blame Obama for the domestic abuse in the Palin household.

And of course what is being said by OP is what stupid thing is Trump going to do related to the hurricane... its not him suggesting Trump is to blame for the hurricane. Not to mention that as president, anything you say or do as a politician is politicized because... thats kind of the definition.

All because you think "the other side" did it too does not excuse it, we are all responsible for our own actions. If you feel that was wrong to do to Obama why do the same to Trump? that just makes you a hypocrite.

With the exception of Fox News most of the media was blindly defending Obama for 8 years, most of the criticism he got was legitimate he was a terrible President and his legacy is one of fraudulence and failure but anyone who called him out was labeled a racist by the Democrats so no I don't recall a time in those 8 years almost every single news outlet, talk-show and celebrity were looking for things to hate Obama over on a daily basis like they are doing with Trump. The two situations are not comparable at all. Trump is President for next 3 and a half years at least so just get over it already, that sort of childish discourse is exactly why Democrats got their asses handed to them in the election they don't have a plan just hate.

Right.......

1. "We" (those who pay attention) dont' "think" the other side did it, we know they did. The point was to point out the hypocrisy. That its ironic to see this from the people who blamed Obama for everything under the sun. People who literally attempted to blame him for their domestic relationship problems.

2. At least on this subject, its not even remotely close to being the same as what we saw with Obama. This is not anyone blaming Trump for a hurricane, they are asking what stupid thing is he going to do after the fact. Your own comprehension issues created the false claim.

3. I cannot speak for "most media" or outlets, but the incidents i do remember of these other outlets aside from fox "defending" Obama, most of the time it seemed to be against attacks and claims that were not real. I would have loved to see CNN and the cable news group criticize Obama far more about things he was actually doing wrong. The problem is, they and the republicans and Fox, all have the same vested interests. They didnt need to defend him because no one (not even fox) would bring up the things he was doing poorly or that he should not have been. The few things "news" organizations would bring up, would be rather silly things.

4. It seems to me that the only time people were considered racist was when something potentially racist was said or a claim made. Calling him the "welfare president", which even more people fell under our social safety net, it was because of Bush and Clinton, not Obama. Calling him a monkey..... the whole birther thing that they never once brought up when discussing Ted Cruise, a man who was born outside of America but ran for their party... etc.

5. You are correct in saying that the two situations are not comparable. Obama was a well spoken adult, who knew what his job was and people who did attack him, rarely attacked him for what he was actually doing. Trump... is a joke. He says something stupid every single day...something id consider a 14 year old a bit dense if they said...., he has no idea what he is doing as he continues to demonstrate.... "who knew health care was this complicated?"... who didnt? That is a much better question. Because if you didnt know, there is zero reason for you to run as president. And the things people criticize him for are things he is actually doing or not doing.
