Poll Do you see the United States splitting at some point? (Poll) (29 votes)
So you think its plausible or possible at this/some point in the future? (Near, distant etc.) Would you prefer this change?

Not at the rate things are going now. Even California is unlikely to leave. The media makes it sound like everything is going to explode any second now, but for the most part, it isn’t hard to find people that are of different political parties that still get along.
In my office, we have both military and civilians working here, and one of the civilians that works here attended the Women’s March last year. We get along just fine, and politics don’t get between our ability to work together.
ANTIFA and the like are the extreme, and people online are naturally going to exaggerate because they have the Internet to protect them (even if they forget for a second that Facebook isn’t anonymous like forums are).
Gosh no, that would be insane from an economic perspective for almost everyone but flyover country. The moment the source of all our resources is cut lose from the major population centers, they are going to push prices as high as they can so they can build their own giant metropolises.
New York City and LA would die in months.
@ad1x2: Why did you name drop ANTIFA when right wing terorism and so called “patriot groups” are a bigger internal threat to the country?
lol no, we are all Americans before we are Southerners, Northerners, New Yorkers, Californians, etc.
also tbh I don't think the feds would allow it haha.
I think it's more likely than people are saying. I mean, you already have places like Texas that have been calling for secession since 1865 with various states joining the chorus from time to time. Now, though, you have a rapidly eroding trust in the government across ideological lines, you have the slow death of norms and standards within government, and you have unprecedented anger at decisions that show no signs of reversing anytime soon. Between basically robbing President Obama of most of his executive power, stealing a Supreme Court seat, stealing a host of judicial appointments, Citizens United, filibustering the Senate into irrelevance, gerrymandering and disenfranchisement, I think there are plenty of Democrats who don't see any way forward with the Republican Party. Combined with the trend of voters filtering themselves into communities based on their party affiliation, I think this could mean that more places will begin to have a larger appetite for secession than ever before. The real question is if they did start voting for secession, how would the federal government respond.

Who doesn't understand economics? ^This guy!

If you didn't just get done proving you have no idea what you are talking about I might sniffle.

The Feds? you don´t think FBI would allow it?
But as determined in Texas V US, it will require a unanimous decision by all states for any states to leave the union.

Feds....federal government FYI. smh
I personally think we should have let the southerns secede. Let Texas carry the entire dead-weight bible belt economically for a hundred years and see how tired they get.
No. This idea of the US splitting has been pushed by Russian trolls. Unlike their country, the US wasnt individual nations that were illegally invaded and forced to join a socialistic union. Every state shares the same language and basic culture and has tremendous amounts in common. Other than the thin skinned whiny ultra-conservatives or liberals who complain every time their party loses, that they are leaving the country, most people have balls and backbones and have no desire to leave.

amen, brother!

You seem eager to defend ANTIFA when they are frequently motivating people to attack people on the right (not just Trump supporters), and have been filmed assaulting people with different political views.
I could see you getting defensive if I said left-wing groups in general, instead of specifically calling out ANTIFA. Obviously, many groups on the left peacefully protest against the administration.

Normally in the real world FEds is what you say when you talk about FBI.
But i get how some in your circle may have a problem with long words like FEDERAL.
I mean those 2 letters would kill anyone ....right.. /fp
@ad1x2: My point was that right-wing terror groups and white nationalists have done more damage to the country than “ANTIFA” could ever hope to. Hence why it was peculiar to me that you decided to name drop them as an example of the extreme, while right-wing terrorism has a higher kill count overall.
But knowing your posts and history of defending Trump, maybe you don’t consider right-wing terrorism a threat...

Whataboutery and strawman.

2 sides of the same coin. Right wing terror groups and antifa are both complete trash and garbage. Hope they wipe each other out. Serious refuse.

Are you denying that ANTIFA is causing violence to silence and harm who they consider right-wing facists? Am I making it up when I said that there were threats and riots to prevent right-wing speakers like Milo Yiannopoulos and Ann Coulter from speaking at Berkely last year?
Also, I am talking about the present. Several generations ago, groups like the KKK caused terror and harm that was unimaginable to minorities. My dad was born in South Carolina in the late 50s during segregation times and my paternal grandparents moved to New York shortly afterwards because of the racism in the south. In 2018, they are pretty much an afterthought outside of the tragedy at Charlottsville last year.
@ad1x2: Where in my post did I deny anything? Can you point it out, please? I didn’t say anything more in my post than what is in there. If you want to make stuff up and assume things *shrugs* that’s on you.
We are talking about the present though. How long ago was Dylann Roof? The Bundy clan occupying federal land? The Bundies pointing guns at literal federal agents? Nazis marching in the streets and running over protesters in cars? These didn’t happen in the 50’s.
