I've always been a big COD fan. I've been playing COD since the original Call of Duty on the PC way back when. I've really enjoyed the Modern Warfare spinoff too. Especially the first one. MW2 left something to be desired, though, in my opinion. Now we have MW3 upon us and to be honest, I think I'll be getting it. I want to finish the story. I could honestly care less about the MP, I'm more of a SP fan anyway, and the MW story has always intrigued me. The characters are well developed, there's a good storyline, and the voice acting is top-notch IMO. I think I'll skip BF 3. My history with Battlefield began with Battlefield 2 on the PC. I enjoyed that game, and played it a lot. Bad Company was crap IMO, but Bad Company 2 was pretty good, although I will say that it did lack a coherent story, but the characters were great. Battlefield 3 seems to be more MP focused, and that traditionally signals a weak SP, so I think I'll skip it. Not discounting EA's ability to make a good shooter. They've made lots of them. I particularly LOVED the Medal of Honor reboot. I just think Activision does it better. Thoughts? Opinions?
Modern Warfare 2 and Bad Company 2 were the last shooters I'll be buying for a while. I'm kinda tired of the genre.

I can understand your fatigue with the genre. I feel the same way at times, but I'm a sucker for "finishing the story." Especially when it comes to COD.
Once i get the cash Il definetly be buying both If The girlfriend keeps to her promise il be getting hardened off her as a present so im not complaining that il only be paying for one od them :P
Both, but after playing the BF3 beta, I'm a bit on the ropes. I heard the final product will be nothing like the beta though, so I dunno lol. It's not like I'll have a shortage of games if I don't get it. :P
Honestly I will buy both games, even though I wasnt impressed with either MW game so far, I feel they know they have more competition this time, so I have a feeling they probably tried to raise the bar a notch, instead of just a new coat of paint like CoD has rehashed like 20 times now.... lol. BF3 will be a midnight release pick up... I care little for the "storylines" of either game, seeing as though shooters generally have weak storylines in my opinion. I did two combat tours, and both games outside of MP may hit a little too close to home with me. Problem is, I might not have internet for about a week or two span during the release of both games.... I do want the preorder bonuses though. It just burns me up a little that since both games are unlock based, I will be at a major disadvantage starting into the online play a couple weeks late... :(
I really hope that the BF3 MP beats the hell out of the beta... I heard the other level that was available on the PC only beta was beast, so we shall see, because I thought the PS3's metro level was crap for the most part...
MW3 only, After that terrible beta from BF3, I'll be more cautious about it and check out the reviews and input from friends and the people here who get it.
Definitely not COD, not too sure about Battlefield, enjoyed BC2 to a degree, but it wasn't amazing and the BF3 beta was awful in my opinion, I know it's only a beta but it was far from awe-inspiring. Anyway, I sure won't be short of games to play with Uncharted 3 and Skyrim on the horizon.
