I'm happy that Sony has finally brought back the rumble feature but U.S gamers will have to wait until 08. The Japanese dual shock 3 is coming next month so I wanted to know if the Japanese dual shock 3 will be compatible with U.S Ps3's.:lol:
starfixxer what makes you think it will work? I think it will work too but I haven't seen anything official one way or another. I can't imagine why it wouldn't work but it's too expensive to important unless I know it's going to work so I want to be sure.
It works, thats why they are pushing out the Motorstorm 3.0 patch with rumble, assassin's creed Uncharted RnC all ship with rumble on the disc. Yet Dual shock 3 doesn't come out in US until Spring. I think they anticipated that people would import it from Japan.
Isn't this discussion pointless? You're going to have to wait for rumble implementation on American PS3 games regardless of whether the *** controller works or not.sportwarrior
There are actually a lot of PS3 games coming out in the next few months that will be able to use rumble including Haze, Uncharted, and Assassin's Creed. Several other games will need a download from Sony to work and it would be my guess they will not be ready until the American release of the Dual Shock 3. This article has a list of games that will use rumble out of the box and which ones will need the download
IGN has already tested out the rumble and so far the games they tested worked, ratchet and clank tod, the uncharted demo. To those people that are saying we need an american patch no we don't, the rumble compatability list by sony shows a * next to games that need a rumble patch thats why you see games like motorstorm, warhawk, and ressistance fall of man getting patches updating it to rumble. The other games without a star like assassins creed, haze, and others will already have rumble implemented in them, meaning thats its already in the game. The playstation 3 dual shock 3 controller will be compatable with any ps3 in the world so you don't have to worry about that.
Oh yes and in 2.00 firmwire update there is now an option to turn on dualshock 3 vibration,

The patches are for the games not the controller. For old games that did not have it, and now will. Im not sure on the whole Japan US thing. Im just gonna wait till its in the US anyways? Its not something I need so bad. Unlike some of the games comming.
SmokenAshes, If you get a chance could you let us know the prices you're seeing over there. It looks like it is 5500 yen retail but Amazon.co.jp has it for 4950 yen. not sure waht the sipping fee would be from them but when I lived in Japan I used to order stuff from Amazon.com all the time and the shipping was always very reasonable. I could also hit some of my friends still in Japan up to by me one but I'd have to wire them money or work out somekind of trade.
Play-asia has it for $75 with shipping. not too bad when you consider it's going to retail for $50 when it goes on sale in March.
