because most of ps2 games werent made for HD, also remember that the ps3 is emulating ps2 so bugs, glitches, grapics downscales or any other problems might happen, but wait for more updates to see if these problems get fixedchacasBetter soon than later, for updates. 1.70 didn't make any promises on the upscale issue I would like to see them fix. Again, the sooner they fix all this the better. Then the media can finally shup up, but, more importantly, the 360 fanboys insulting the PS3 because these aren't included in the final product, as of yet at least. Upscale is essesial.
The crappy graphics aside, it's those god forsaken black bars on the sides of the game that really kill me. You can't even get rid of them because the black borders are actually considered part of the image as a means to compensate for SD TV's over scanning issue. Only an Software emulation system can fix the black borders and poor graphics.pimperjones
I hear you on that. Every since I got my HDTV a year ago, I can't play my Final Fantasy games anymore cuz of those damn black bars. FF12 was the only one that I could, but that's because my TV can stretch widescreen displays like FF12. But 4:3 video gets stretched horizontally on my TV if I use the same option and that looks worse than the black bars. I don't want to see a fat Yuna and Tidus on my screen. :P

btw the black bars can go away buddy
try changing the screen mode, it should be a button or in the options

Most LCD tv screens have different modes for different aspect ratios   usually FULL, CINEMA, (aka WIDESCREEN) ZOOM etc,
That will get rid of the bars and unstretch video
You ppl need to use the PS3 upscaling feature. Not only PS1/PS2 games look good, but DVD movies look great aswell. I'll also argue that playing N64 on HDTV is not that bad. You ppl really are odd when say u these games are not playable on an HDTV.PSP107Yeah. gotta set the Upscaling and the Full screen too.
Lol, this may be why i played San Andreas on my PS3 and it was judt un-playable, i thought it was kuz it was a PS2 game, but maybe kuz i tried it on my PS3 on 42" TV. Iunno, i just couldn't aim or nuthin.
ps1 games are rubbish why would u play themslim-pageyWhat do you mean rubbish? the PSX is better then the PS3 game wise.

I tend to agree 100000000000000000000000000000% with this guy...I still play Atari 2600 games from time to time so if people think PS2 games are horrible looking I would love to see your face when playing Combat..lol...graphics are NOT everything..
Even with upscaling, PS2/PS1 games just don't look that great. PS2 games are ok but still kinda pixelated in some places and PS1 games just look laughably bad.
looks great to me. im actually going to play old games on PS2 and PS3 this weekend for a test.Lol, this may be why i played San Andreas on my PS3 and it was judt un-playable, i thought it was kuz it was a PS2 game, but maybe kuz i tried it on my PS3 on 42" TV. Iunno, i just couldn't aim or nuthin.
