Is there ever an age where you are simply too told to play video games hardcore again? Is is taboo for a man that is over the age of 35 to go out and buy a game like inFamous? What about 45?

Do you ever think you'll stop gaming hardcore?(Once you have kids and such) Or will you always try to keep up with the times and get the new system/game that's out there? (Think about it, buying playstaion 6when you are in your 40's!)

i think it has to be when you yourself think you are too old to play video games and when you make that decision you stop. I will still play video games as long as i have my hands :)

When you are too old to be able to figure out how the latest console or controller works, or are confused by what you see on the screen...then and only then are you too old to play videogames.

I'm forty, have kids and will be playing games until I can no longer hold a controller...hopefully I will be able to play by using telepathy by then!

Agreed. I'm over 35 and still play, probably not as much as when I was younger than 30 but I'll probably won't stop until when/if my arthritis gets so bad I can't hold the controller.:) My dad is over 60 and he just bought a PS3 last year and he plays it regularly..

Old people play the Wii, you're never to old to play video games. The only time you're really to old is when your thumbs stop working.

What's the definition of hardcore? I hardly ever have the time to play 8+ hours straight like when I was in grade school/high school but when given the opportunity I'll plant myself with DS3 in hand for as long as I can.

I am 34 years old, married for 5 years & have a 10 month old daughter & play about 2 hours every night. Maybe not as hardcore as I use to play but still love gaming. I never feel awkward going & getting a game since my generation basically grew up with them. :)

The only way I will stop playing games is when I die. Otherwise I will be playing, even if I am 80.

As far as I'm concerned, you can never be too old to play. Two of my favorite people to playonlinewith are up there in age, with one in his mid-40s and the other in his mid-50s now.

Age isn't an issue, my uncle is retired and he plays all the time. I think anyone of any age can still play as long as they don't let it get in the way of more important stuff.

I'm still playing like I used to although now I have 3 kids and one on the way and I have my navy career to consider but I don't thinkn there is an age where your'e to old to play. Oh and I'm 23 btw.

You have 3 kids soon to be 4 at 23!? Man you got to work, lol. I couldn't even imagine that right now ( I am 20 ) But to the question. Never i would say as long as you still enjoy it and love it. It is a hobby the same as golf or anything so there is nothing wrong with it. Play as long as you enjoy it.

This really made me laugh. There is no age limit on movies or television, so why put one on video games? Its great to keep up with the latest and greatest games and hardware. Who else can afford to buy this stuff but someone who is working and making a ton of money; An Adult. Adults like gadgets and entertainment as much as anyone. Video games are not new, kid. They have been around for 30 years. A entire generation has grown up with video games. They did not start with xbox or PS2. I am 48. My older Brother is 55. Several co-workers are over 50. They all play video games, either on Wii, 360, Ps3 or even pc. They all have large screen hdtv's too. They dont spend 12 hours a day playing them. They dont run out to buy every new release. But damn, they are not breaking a age law when they do play.

Well it's this. Either you conform and become a robot like everyone else, or you do what you want and decide what your entertainment is.

To ask the question "are you too old" is in fact apart of that conformism that stereotypes video games to be toys for kids or people with "no lives".

Such derogatory comments and thoughts towards video games sometimes makes want to puke.

I'm 43 and haven't lost interest yet. I have a PS3 and Xbox360. I'm not ashamed either. It's a great hobby and I believe the future of home entertainment will merge gaming and media like what's happening now. Everyone will probrably have the capability to tap into gaming if they want to. Equipment will merge into one super box that does everything.

well i'm 20, but in my generation most of us grew up with a gameboy attached to our fingers. it may be taboo for a 45 year old playing hardcore games. but they already have a life, they can do what they want, but in 25 years for my gen, i can see it as being a common thing to keep up with games, especially when they will change so much in 25 years.

I play games like an actor loves his films, or an artist loves his paintings and whatever. I'll always enjoy it, as it's like a mix of story telling, music, and fun - like a movie, interactivity and music all in one to create a game. I'll always be fascinated by the way certain games tell there story, specifically MGS4. I'll probably never stop, and I look forward to gaming in the future when I know it will get even better :)

I think it only becomes a problem with age, if videogames are getting in the way of your lifestyle. payments, appointments/meetings/late to work....stuff like that is when you know you should cut down on your videogame habits. However, I think you can play videogames your entire life hardcore. It's only bad if it starts to cause problems.

I'm nearly 32, and I suppose I am already too old to play games "hardcore" anymore. I still try. I have a lot of games I've only made it half-way through. I try to keep track so I can go back when there is a gaming drought. Still, with work, study, lawncare, home repair, and wifey time, I have to squeeze gaming in when I get the chance. I don't even have kids yet! I think whenever you have kids gaming really needs to take a back seat until they start becoming more independant. Other than that, game as long as you want. My friend's dad is in his late 50's and he loves playing JRPG's!

As soon as I decide to get a life (married, kids, full time job, etc) I will most likely stop playing. I'd stop playing now if I could find something to occupy as much time as gaming does. I'm 19 btw

I'm 30, and sometimes I wonder if Im getting to old to play video games. Then my dad told me that him and his wife bought a Wii and I didn't feel as bad, lol. Sometimes I get "out of the groove" of playing game sfor a while but there's always a hot title or two to come out and suck me back in. I'll be a gamer until I am not able to physically or mentally play.

I dont think there is an age, i think its as long as you have enough free time to play you can. when you have 5 kids and work 12 hour days to support them and then you have to drive them to school and back take them to soccer and go watch there games.... thats when you have to hang up your controller and pick up a mini van:P
