[QUOTE="ryank285"]The fact it can be used as a portable device to store porn...ryank285

Um... isn't that the PSP?

I don't consider the PS3 to be extremely portable.

I never used a PSP but i can't imagine it having a hard drive or internet access.

Memory Stick on the order of 4 gigs and yea it does have internet access to WiFi and LAN. I know many a person who got in trouble having one in a place they shouldn't be, particularly for the reason you mentioned.

For me it was the fact that I played my PS2 so much and was looking forward to more of my favorite franchises like Final Fantasy and God of War. I'm also a fan of JRPGs and adventure games which the Playstations have been nice to in the past so I figured the PS3 was the way to go for those. The bluray player wasn't a reason, but definitely a bonus! :P

Answer = reliability.

I don't play often. I don't need a ton of games to keep me happy. All I ask is that my system boots up when I'm free to play once or twice a month. (Sidenote: I actually owned the previous generation model. Not even the current one which has even more issues from what I hear. I ended up giving away the whole system, 4 controllers, and 20+ games because of constant DRE issues)

So, there are two consoles that can fulfill this requirement.

At that point, it comes down to "gaming style." I rarely have my friends come over for some drinks and then a night of stick-waving. More often that not, I game alone as relaxation. Plus I'm a sucker for sharp graphics.

So now there's really only one console that fits the bill.

And that's what motivated me to buy a PS3.

What issues with current gen PS3's? You are not getting your facts right.

I was referring to another company when talking about reliability issues. I got the PS3 because it has run absolutely flawless for me. (Launch Day 60GB PS3)

I made a list of games for each console, Wii, PS3, and 360. I felt that I wanted more games for the PS3 followed by the 360 then Wii.

I have had every Sony console since it came out or within a year and have never been mad at my decision. I think Sony offers the best games (MGS, DMC, FF, RE) the controller is the best ever made, why do think they have never had to change the design? It's perfect. I pretty much have never experienced any problems with any of my Sony consoles.

I bought all 3 consoles in the end I got rid of my Wii and my 360. What motivated me to keep the PS3 over the others was region free gaming (games are expensive as hell in Australia - why pay AUD$120 when you can pay AUD$70?), blu-ray player, inbuilt wi-fi, user replaceable HDD (I have a 160 GBer in mine). In the end when I compared the 2 graphical power houses the 360 and the PS3 I couldn't really see a difference so I kept the console that had more features built in. People are going to ask why I didn't keep the Wii and the 360 though. That's easy the Wii bored the hell out of me, even now I can't see anything I'd like to play except Wii Sports. The 360 on the other hand was a harder decision but I really don't have room under my TV for both a 360 and PS3 so like I said above I kept the 1 that seemed like better value (region free gaming, features) to me.

I had surgery in the spring and was going to be off work for a few months. There was nothing on the Wii besides Zelda which I had already beat and needed something to augment my xbox360. I watched a video of Resistance and I had to have one. I thoroughly enjoyed Resistance and do not regret my purchase, but I would say that if I could only have one console it would be the 360 at the moment. At the moment.

Well, my Xbox broke, and rather than wait a month to get it back, I decided I would be better off trading it in with all my games and getting a PS3 for $45. Also, I love Final Fantasy and many other games that I used to play on PS2.
