Extra content on certain bluray discs, like SAW IV, that contains like games/facts/behind the scenes/etc, the ps3 is the first br player to support it.

It allows for internet features of certain Blu Ray discs to be used. One example, for Alien vs. predator: Requiem, that you can play it with other people online, while you watch the film, the demos to me look like time crisis (I don't get how it works, but it's interesting).

BD-Live requires that a Blu-ray player have 1 GB of internal storage and an internet connection. The PS3 has a hard drive and obviously can get on the net. With these things, a BD-Live movie can access the internet to download addition content like video and pictures and store them on the hard drive. In other words, it gives you access to new "extras" after the disc has been released.

HD DVD has this feature since day one. Transformers had it and it was pretty lame. I expect similar lameless on Blu-ray. Then again, I've never been into extras. So, I probably have a slanted view.

It allows for extra content to be downloaded from the internet. And sense Sony has a good number of movie studios this could mean that they could provide a much better service than HD DVD had because they really didn't own any part of movie studios.

The main thing is we have to realize it will take time to get this service working up to par.

BD Live is probably a lot like the feature HD DVD had. You can download content to a HD (your PS3) made especially for that DVD. For example, on Transformers for HD DVD my friend was able to download a health meter and GPS device that, while playing Transformers, you knew exactly where all the bots were and their health. It was pretty sweet!
