was free online one of the reasons you bought the ps3?

I was reading this article where it says not many ppl bought the ps3 for its free online. Where I actually got the ps3, since Its great the online is free. Hopefully sony doesnt start charging for online!

I would pay a monthly fee if it meant them being able to develop a robust system for voice chatting in game, revising the XMB completely and also opening up many more opportunities for us techies to use their system for numerous other things. I would glad pay what Xbox Live users pay. When the subscription model comes out as optionable, consider me signed up for it on the first day. If you love Sony, than sign up as well to support them on making new features and advances. I respect them for putting stuff out for free but money would get things done faster.

Rumor has it that Infinite Undiscovery is coming to the Playstation 3. I have already played Last Remnant and that one on X360 though, have bought Last Remnant for PS3 since then and enjoyed it everytime I play it. Infinite Undiscovery was an awesome game though. It will be on Playstation 3 soon enough.

No I bought a PS3 for many reasons, My very first console was a PS1 so ive always been a fan of sony even though I love all consoles.I use to own an Xbox 360, before that I had an Xbox but after having my 360 for 3 years I sold it mainly due to the fact I have no respect for microsoft and how they try to swindle every lil dime out of there cunsomers. I loved the 360 just not the company marketing it :(.

Nope, the exclusives. Eventually though I gave up on my 'other' console and now I'm exclusive :P Sure is great not having to pay $50 a year to play online anymore!

Yes and no. It was a mixture of things that enticed me to purchase the PS3. One being the aforementioned, others being the selection of games that were available and what we were to expect for the "next-generation" to bluray movies.

I didn't even have a connection prior to getting a PS3... it's because of my satisfaction with the playstation products over the years is the reason why i got my PS3... eventhough at that time it was being forseen to fail and ridiculed, still i trusted on it... and look at how it rocks now. i'm very, very satisfied!

Actually no. I was just sick of the xbox 360, it breaks easily as does the controller andmicrophone. I just had enough. And I much prefer my PS3.

Also, In expect Sony to start charging people for online within a year. They are missing out. I expect them to charge something small like £10 a year, i guess thats about $20. Id pay it. But would I pay what the 360 charge for their online? Probably not.

yep. wifi was a big reason too. but the games were most important to me.

bought the ps3 because my 360 rrod...didn't want to buy another 360 for that to rrod again and etc.. so I bought the ps3 most def wasn't going to the wii.. For what teh 360's offer it most def shouldn't have that rrod... for what the ps3 offers its worth to get it reparied if it breaks but so far so good.

I owned a PS1 and a PS2. Playstation is the only game console I've ever owned.

Got a PS3 because it was the next gen. Sony console. I didn't know Jack about it when I got one.

Now I'm glad I did. More features than I ever imagined.

Yes, free online and the built-in wifi were two huge reasons for getting the PS3 over the 360, for me. Blu-ray was pretty much a non-factor.

Yes! Think of it...$50 a year really does add up over time. Wouldn't you prefer to have at least 5-6 extra games in your collection by the end of a console generation?

Plus add in free Netflix streaming and you have to admit, it's pretty stupid to pay for Xbox Live.

And don't even start with me about community size or Cross Game Chat.
