Okay so im going to be getting a new handheld soon, I have considered getting a PSP but with the recent announcement of the PSP 3000 I wasn't sure wether to wait or just get a slim&lite now. All I will want the PSP for is games, music, maybe the occasional movie or video. What exactly does the PSP 3000 do that the slim&lite doesn't do? Also does anyone know if the 3000 will be more expensive that the slim&lite is right now when it launches? Many thanks if you can answer any of my questions!

Wait for the new psp 3000. Game spot has an article on the new psp model and so does the sony site. There has been an improvement to the brightness of the display and a few more changes. It is the same price as the psp slim so what do you have to lose but a little time for the newest model. It is coming out in September and October. I would wait for the October bundle. Check it first.

There are some down sides to the 3000 the new screen uses more power so battery time is 20-30 mins less!

That's correct. Unless you plan to play your psp outside or where there would be glare on the screen, I don't really see how it's worth it. The battery life was already shortened when they made the slim, now it's going to be what 3 1/2 hours of use?

With my phatty it goes for 5-6 hours on a full charge. The slim, 4 hours. I'm already ordering an extra battery off the internet today for my slim because the battery life is too short.

definitely wait for the PSP 3000 in October. If you can, wait until November when the Black 3000 bundled with a 4GB memory stick is released.

Buy silm now. If you dont use skype on psp then the mic is pointless, you can play socom without mic too ;)The screen hasnt actually changed much, just drains battery more.Get silm man.

I'm in the same boat as you, and plan on waiting. I don't really plan on playing outside, or needing a mic, but I'd much rather have something and not need it(at least when that extra something is the same price as without), then not have it, and find out i need it one day.

This is the first I've heard of the bundle with the 4G memory. Does it come with anything else(game or movie)?

agreed. Why not get more for the same price. As for the black bundle.. It only comes with a 4GB stick. Which IMO is a pretty good deal. Considering the Silver comes with only 1GB and a game that only retails for under $20. You could do so much more with the 4GB stick than with one game and 1GB.

to be honest, i think the PSP 3000 is just Sony's way of hidng their plan to sell a PSP system that reduces hacking and to boost their sales that were lost to hackers. And also, Sony has just found ways to make their PSP's with cheaper parts so they can make more money (even though the system will still cost $199/$169). if you really want a PSP now and plan on getting free games, then get the slim. if you plan on using skype for the mic and playing outside with anti-glare, then get the PSP 3000. You should be aware that with the PSP 2000, you could get free games for your PSP, while with the PSP 3000, you can't get free games all for the cost of a better screen and a mic. The PSP 3000 really isn't any big upgrade. The only reason i see to wait for the 3000 is for 4GB bundle if you really need memory. i'm personally going to be buying a PSP 2000 next week because i could get free games for it (but even if downloaded free games or not, i'd rather have the capability of doing it, than not having it at all with the PSP 3000)

You should definitely wait. Why buy a 2000 model if you can just wait a couple months and get a newer superior version for the same price?

I agree that you should wait. The 3000 does have 30 minutes less but eventually they will release a new battery that has more time so it won't be too long till that comes out. Also the 3000 has better "colors" and can hookup to any Television set. Unlike the PSP 2000 where you can only hook it up to the HDTVs. Also the mic is a nice new addition.

By supporting the new PSP your basicallly showing support and giving developers feedback that people are still following the PSP line and more games will come out outside of Japan partly because of less hackable hardware.

Basically wait for the 3000 you won't regret it.
