VLC on PS3?

i got some MKV files on my computer that i wanna watch on the ps3, so i was thinking....Can i just download VLC on my Ps3 and watch them through there?

what is that exactly. how do i go about playing videos on VLC on the ps3

Easier way is to simply download ps3media server for your PC and play your mkv's through that. Provided yor PC and PS3 are connected to each other (can be wireless)
