was doing a lot of research to install a Linux program on my PS3 and at first I saw Yellow Dog, but then I came to realize that Ubuntu 7.10 Gusty Gibbon was great and just rightfor the PS3. So I followed a popular online guide and everything was going fine on the PS3 until I got to the install prompt right before installation. I got this message:

Ubuntu PS3 KBoot Loader

No default root fs was found, or one was found and it didn't contain a message: config file.

If no rootfs was found you can enter the shell here with 'sh'. Exiting will return you to this prompt. In the shell you can mount your rootfs as /nnt/root/.

Reasons this may have happened include:

- No drive with a rootfs was actually found.
- Your rootfs does not have the correct volume label of "/"
- Your rootfs is corrupt (use the rescue cd to fix this)."

After all of this nonesense it says KBoot again and if you press enter it just says KBoot again? I have looked everywhere online and there has been no guide to help me on this, can someone who is familar with the program please help me out?

I am now using Yellowdog 5.0.2. IT works pretty good, it doesnt support a flash player (yet) that will play youtube videos but it is still good.

yeah i reformatted and it worked i went with Kubuntu which was a huge pain form the live cd but now i have it. I just gotta figure out how to install the addon.iso for ps3video from my thumb drive. Anyone know if it would be added through the package manager or through mounting with loop. I tried to mount and copy with no luck and tried to sudo install it but it wouldnt work and i also tried apt-get with no luck. Im stucj in 480i since i only have 1080i and 480p television.

I installed it no problem, but it was that long ago I cant remember that much about it. Post this within the PS3 Ubuntu website forum and they will help for sure!
