INTRO-

OK well when it first came out it was simple to me. I had a 360 and ps3 was 200 dollars more, with not near as many games to play or accomplished online. I've recently bough a nintendo wii since it is pretty much accomplished and has great VC titles and games like Mario Kart, also because i never really hear about anybody having problems with it, like RROD on 360.

Well i never really have heard much stories about PS3's messing up besides early stories, but now recently there has been a lot of stories about the PS3's messing up in some way. So well i can deal paying the extra $60 for the best buy warranty on my 360 and risk possibly having to buy a new one when the warranty is up, but well i don't want to deal with that for 2 systems. With a 360 i never wanted to buy a ps3 because of p

OK now heres what i want to know....Is the PS3 a reliable system to where the majority of PS3 owners have NEVER had a problem? Majority being anything over 90-95%... So another reason i never got the PS3 was its lack of quality exclusive titles that appeal to me....with MGS coming out soon, and everything they're doing with the system functions and online they're working on, there also might be some PS1 games i'd be interested in buying. So can someone give me some more exclusives and upcoming titles and what they are really about?

BluRay doesn't really matter to me because hardly any dvd's need it and i won't pay more than 10 dollar for a dvd, well 20 dollars but it has to be a GREATTT movie. Something that i like a lot is the WiFi...i spent so much money on my wireless router and adapter so i could play online on my 360 that i like that if i bought a PS3 i could make use of the wireless router with the PS3 as well..ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED PLEASE INFORM ME ON THINGS ABOUT PS3 and why it has a long road....again i'm a video game player not a movie watcher so don't tell me how good blu ray movies are!! Also am looking for more reasons than metal gear solid.

The ps3 is known to Be very relable. There is the yello light of death but its very rare probly one in a million get it. You don't need an overpriced wireless adapter for the ps3 so thats cool. Also Psn is free which is pretty sweet.

Exclusives Eh? there are a few aready out like i ordered from best to worst

Uncharted: is a very entertaing game, with ALOT of replay value, and the graphics are god like, but it is somewhat short

Ratchet and Clank: Stangely the game is crazy easy the frist time though but when you play it again the difficulty ramps up and its way better.

HAZE!!!: I don't understand what the hell happend to reviewers. this game has really awesome multiplayer

Fullauto 2: A just plain fun combat racing game. its really good

there are tons games that are coming out later like LBP, FF13, white knight, infamous, Resistace 2 and so on

If you do the research you'll pretty much figure out if a ps3 is worth a buy or not.

Its extremely reliable, I've had mine on for 2 traight months now 24/7 (running folding@home when im not gaming, putting it simply is this program developed by stanford to help them with their medical research). The PS3 problems you hear about are too few and far between to even care about, I mean theres always one or two malfunctions out of millions of every mass produced electronic device, so those problems aren't relly too much of a concern. The PS3 has great (afformentioned) exclusives. I havent had a problem with the online at all and I play quite a bit, to top it off its free. And yes the wifi is an awesome feature among many other the ps3 has.

Bluray is a new technology so its gonna be expensive for a while, DVD was when it first came out now look at it. Expect the same from bluray in the future. Because once you have a nice HD TV set up, HD movies look amazing! Not saying you have to shell out money right now on blurays, just that prices will drop in the future.

I'm happy with my purchase. I have had basically no problems with the ps3. If you buy one I highly suggest waiting for the 80 gig, MGS4 bundle pack. The 80 gig has ps2 backwards compatability and will have mgs4 with it. But if Backwards comatbbility is not a problem for you. Buy the 40 gig. Another good thing is that the HDD is easily replaceable.

ok..thanks for those responses. Those line of exclusives doesnt particularly appeal to me but they do seem different from what 360 offers. im also interested in seeing the graphics difference in games. PS always seemed to have skinnier people and xbox theyre chunkier, i think... Also can someone tell me what PS3 online features..i love to browse the web on my wii(like right now... How many PS1 games are there and how often are they added? With 360 it was always complicated to get videos or music from my computer wireless. How easy is it on ps3 n what can you do exactly? THANKS!!! edit-also i just got a new hdtv with all these hookups on it so im looking to get everything hooked up to it hdmi all that..

First of all,

HUH?

Do you have an HDTV?

What do you mean about DVD's needing BD?

There are alot of releases out for BD's and most new movies are coming out on BD. Also you know that BD's are not DVDs.

BD's you get 1080p resolution HD video goodness with unbelievable audio tracks that are lossless etc when compared to DVD.

ahh not many ps2 games appeal to me either...i had xbox. And yes i do have HDTV and i understand that alot of the movies, probably all the movies will be getting released on blu ray, but i don't want to pay 30 dollars for a blu ray disc when i can get the regular dvd for practically free. Also my tv is not 1080 it is 720.

i had a 360 since almost 2 years now, and i had a ps3 since launch, i was a little disappointed with ps3 at first, but then at around middle-late 07 is went great, i loved it with the exclusives. the multiplats are different some are more downgraded on ps3 compared to 360 but very minimal, and only really with launch titles the more recent games are different some are better on ps3 some better on 360. but are very minimal. ps3 exclusives have a more wider range of games compared to 360 but its down to preference. the online is free and while its not the best out of the 3 systems (i say second place but is closing the gap) it has built in wi-fi and while service is better on 360 the actual online play is better on ps3 in my opinion. pdz and frontlines are the only 32p games on 360 while 40p on resistance, 32p on warhawk, 60p on resistance 2 and some more. the reliability is like less than 2% i heard on ps3 and wii 30 something% on 360. i still like my 360.

im sorry man but playing a 60 player multiplayer match isnt cool...not to me...idk why people try to make that a big deal. I'd rather play 4 on 4 in gears of war...a lot more skill needed..

If we're talking about exclusives don't forget god of war 3.

Btw, u dont ask that question in the ps3 forum, everyone will obviously say yes. Try again in system wars.

gears can be laggy though, and while it needs alittle teamwork, so did resistance on objective maps, and you never hear too many people talking in a team because there is a group function, that talks to people in the cretain group so resistance 2 might have it.

The PS3 is hands down the best purchase I have made in years.

My game collection has lots of variety, is both graphically amazing AND fun. I have upgraded my hard drive from 60 gigs to 250 gigs with EASE. Online is free and automatically configured. Demos and online content are free and the built in browser and PS3 store make getting the content as easy as picking and clicking.

I have NEVER had so much online play so easily on ANY OTHER PLATFORM including PC.

As a game console, it blows away the competition. The games are on blu ray disc. Do a little research on how much data fits on a Blu ray, then rethink the entire next gen idea.

As a web machine, it is simple and very useable.

As a multimedia center, it is worth the money without the games or the web stuff. It plays Blu Ray movies, upscales your DVD's and can be networked to your computers to watch streaming content! That means anything you have on your PC can be viewed on your TV without burning or copying anything. This is a MASTER STROKE for Sony. Add the ability to upload music, phots and video from any media source and you have a no brainer purchase.

I don't have a PSP so I can't even imagine the awsome power of being able to use it in conjunction with the PS3, but the possibilities become overwhelming.

Buy a PS3. You will be very happy with your purchase. If you are concerned with cash, go get a refurb or used one from EB. Save a whack of cash and have a PS3 plus one maintenance check. It's all good.

Go.

I say buy. I am getting one on June 12th with the re-introduction of the 80GB console. I didn't get one originally because I had a 360 and a Wii and that kept me pretty busy until just recently. I'm getting bored and need a new toy.

The avi's and other video files stream very well to the PS3. I watch stuff all the time, it's awsome.

However, now that you have said that it is between a PS3 and a car, I say go for the car. The graphics are way better (leaves 1080p in the dust), a PS3 is nice and warm but it doesn't get you to work on time, and you need a car because you do.

One more however, if you are looking at 400 dollars sitting on your table and thinking "PS3 or Car?" uh... I'd say either keep saving or go for the PS3. A 400 dollar car isn't going to take you too far either.

lolol yeaaa i got more than 400 but i figure it will be just as easy to gain 400 back for the car but harder to save for the car and then get the ps3 after....

I always liked being able to download all the old games right onto my console and 360 was doing real good with it but has fell off. I'm wondering how is PS3's schedule on releasing playstation1 games? and how big is the library?

Another thing is i'm always pretty paranoid or uneasy about buying video game consoles or any high priced things unless if they're at BIG successful stores, such as best buy is really the one i trust the most and feel thats the only place im safe getting a console. So i'm wondering is it alright i get the PS3 at gamestop or walmart or wherever? does it matter or are they all the same? more chance of being defective anywhere or what??? THANKS ALOTTT!

ALSO I REALLY NEED TO KNOW IF IM GONNA HAVE TO FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO PUT MY SYSTEMS BC RIGHT NOW THERES NO ROOM FOR ALL 3!

Both the PS3 and 360, require a lot of power, and both require a sufficient amount of space around them to have adequate air flow. If you crunched for space ... never have both of them on at the same time. Don't keep them exactly side by side, have atleast a foot of room between them preferably, both can stand vertically which should help.

The wii i assume can go anywhere except for its IR sensor.

i think the realistic image in PS3 is from the HDTV the console doesn't really have influence in that, so if u play ps2 in HDTV the image will be as realistic as u play ps3 w/ HDTV

no thats not true at all.

That statement has "NO" written all over it. The PS2, the Wii, do not look good on the HDTV simply because they're not capable of HD and they do not scale. You're better off playing PS2 and Wii games on an SDTV, Flat-tube, CRT. And anything bigger than a 20 inch screen starts to already distort the picture. Believe me I have experimented over and over again. Anyone who says Wii or PS2 games look amazing on an HDTV is A) Sitting really far away from the TV B) Lying through their teeth! :P C) Have not tried it for themselves D) Has lower standards than graphic nerds! I've tried PS2 and Wii games on HDTV, blurry, fuzzy, stretched, you name it. Turn it around and play it on an SDTV and it looks gorgeous. If it's not built for HD, it wont look good on it. I have a friend at Bestbuy who works in the Magnolia Theatre department and he and I tested all the game consoles on different TVs and all the claims or exaggerations made by people saying the Wii or PS2 looks awesome on HDTV are pretty much BSing. It doesnt look awesome, at least not for me. The only two systems that look great on an HDTV are PS3 and Xbox 360, obviously. From far away, and Wii or PS2 on an HDTV looks okay but it's not going to be pretty.

With the PlayStation one games they are downloadable on the PlayStation store and most of the classic games are on there. I'm not sure if there is a schedule and just as a guess i would say they have 20 games on there, maybe more.

the graphics from beyond good and evil and persona 3 looked good on my HD-TV (roughly 60 inch 1080) played from my ps3. the ps3 does upscale/smooth the games out. ofcourse they are not going to look like current games coming out thats just rediculous, but they do look good. just because they are not 720 or 1080p does not mean they don't look good.
