Take a look here:
As you can see, FFXIII costs $99 and ACiT cost $109 which is an insane amount of cash to pay.
Agree?

While they are pretty expensive when they come out, you'd be a fool to pay full price. There are sales all the time, so you can get things pretty cheap without much effort. Also I think your math is a little bit off on that average...
How does that equate to US dollars?
Holy crap, i would go into sticker shock if I saw that here. I don't even like paying $60 US for new games. Wait a few months and Gamestop has games for $19.99 or less...can you guys at least get deals on used games?
Yeah new release titles are often quite expensive, however if you shop around you can find them a little cheaper...nevertheless Australia/NZ are a big rort for games!yourmateI know. I'm sick off it.
I wouldn't even buy a game for 59.99 unless I was a die hard fan boy.. RDR wasn't even worth my 59.99How does that equate to US dollars?

While I agree, games are generally a rip off here. the average price isnt $120!
the end of financial clearance sales everywhere ended up games selling for a reasonable price and even alot were very cheap. I go into shops now and I am just not willing to buy games for their normal sale prices.
For those kinds of overhyped games, I wait until everyone has forgotten about them and then buy them on a clearance sale for $16 :D

its funny how ts says the average price is 120 and then shows 2 games that come in at over 10 dollars under that
everythign in AU is expensive you should be used to that by now and i believe your dollar is worth less anyways
In Singapore, games average around $80-$90, even older titles, and SGD$ is pretty close to US$ or CAN$. It's painful.
And have to pay $40 shipping to get it over here? No thanks. There are other ways for us to get games though, we have a few sites like gamefly that I use. Far better way of doing it. Also, that big collectors edition of GoW3 was $250 here and the SC2 collectors $150, most balloon in price.I shudder to know what you poor fellas pay for a CE of any given game....ughhh.
Maybe order from Amazon.com?

Our dollar is worth 10% less than yours. A straight converstion of USD$60 is about AUD$67.

Yeah games in the US equate to about $85NZ, and in the UK about $75NZ. It kinda sucks. Especially when there are so few options in NZ. TradeMe (our eBay) is usually pretty good for cheap new release games though, people buy them day one, get sick of them and put them on TradeMe, sometimes for around $80.
Although, it all depends on minimum wage really. What is the minimum wage in the US and UK?
Holy crap. So basically you guys have to work roughly 5-6 hours to pay for a full price game right? In NZ it is around 9 hours for a full price game. Lucky sods. Anyone know the minimum wage in USA?From october, it'll be £5.93 minimum per hr

I work at a large Westfield shopping centre. I always look for a bargin when I make a purchase and have access to many stores that sell games.
DONT BUY GAMES FROM EB GAMES, OR GAME. They over charge sometimes upwards of up to $30. Its staggering to see often their second hand versions of their new games are more expensive. I have seen games selling for $30 at other stores selling for $99 at EB Games.
EB are good for price matching- I work closer to EB so it is more energy effient for me to go there with a cataloge, get a price match and a 7 day no questions asked exchange.
Big W and JB HI FI eaisly have the cheapest prices. Often when a game is released those stores sell the game $10 cheaper to gain the edge. I find it is common to find new released games for $89. You'll find that after the first inital week for sale that the price will go up as they make alot of sales in that first week. If a game doesn't sell well within a month or two then it is common to see it selling for $59.
I think the adverage price in Australia is around the $80 mark for a new game. Obviously stores have sales and it is common to find the odd bargin here or there. Trick is to look at the cataloges you get in the mail and browse stores before you make your purchase. It could save you $10.
[QUOTE="FurryAdventurer"]Which one? Sydney is extremely expensive; much more than Brisbane.benz1980i
Adelaide- Marion
I'm from Sydney and I hate going to EB. JB is the place, or better yet, try Target or Kmart. I found some good prices there.http://www.bigw.com.au/entertainment/video-games-consoles/games?params=fh_location%3D%2F%2Fcatalog01%2Fen_AU%2Fcategories%3C{2534374302023988}%26fh_start_index%3D60&reset=false
Have a look at the big W catalogue. The most expensive game I came across was GOW and FFXII going for $98 each. A few $88 and alot under $69.
Games have always cost about the same in Australia. I remember paying $99 for sega mega drive games. I have no complainets with the price of games in Australia. You just have to learn where and when to shop
