Why is it always Sony's fault? donnygorgas
Exactly. I just finished saying the exact same thing in ANOTHER THREAD JUST LIKE THIS. The funny thing is in an earlier topic someone claimed to be a big rpg fan and yet stated that ff7 came out on ps2.....WOW! Anyways, let it be with the rpg's and stop placing the blame on sony...rather stop placing the blame on anyone and just let the games come as they come. This is how the gaming world works ladies & gentlemen, so suck it up and game.

FF7 on PS2, they shouldn't even call themselves a gaming fan much less an RPG fan:lol: WOW indeed...

Even I that don't like RPGs know that FF7 is in SNES...:P joking PS1.it's not Sony's fault there are no RPGs. Besides, what do you prefer? half finished RPGs or great ones?
I think the Rolling Stones said it best: you can't always get what you want. Final Fantasy XIII will be worth the wait. Until the RPG floodgates open I'll just have to console myself with Grand Theft Auto IV and Metal Gear Solid 4.CasinoOutlaw247
FF13 is being shown at E3 and there's talk of a demo:

^^^WHOOOHOOO!! Thats right! Never underestimate the power of Final Fantasy! Can't wait for next month.ZidaneskiTo answer your question on the Star Ocean locked thread, IMO SO3 wasn't that great because I played Star Ocean and Star Ocean 2. In SO3, it was almost the same exact plot twist from the first two, which kind of ruined the story for me. The battle system was great, good graphics, voice acting was good, but halfway, the story was just like....mehhh. The originality factor that the original two had completely lost it in the third.

Were the games continuous or did they have seperate storylines?
Knowned franchises turned exclusives or multiplatforms, yet we are still receiving new IPs. Check the Japanese store for more RPGs info, there are a ton that will be releasing starting July. The last trailer from a new one is from Tears to Tiara (an SJRPG). We also have Valkyrie of the Battlefield (recently changed to Chronicles) which is an action SJRPG, White Knight Story from Level 5 (great developer), Disgaea 3 from Nipon Ichi, Persona 4 will work on the PS3 with BC (and if the rumor is true, then 40 owners will also be able to play it), there is a secret MMORPG by SE thats exclusive to the PS3, there is FF XIII and vs XIII and some others JRPGs, but their names are in Japanese so I cant read their names, but they also have demos in the japanese store and a really cool theme of Valkyrie Chronicles. Also, remember that Tales of the Abyss sold less than 500k units in a PS2 with a userbase of over 100 millions and that Star Ocean 3 sold only 1.3 million units. I love those games, and I really want to play them, but you can see that they dont represent much in terms of sales.
SE wanted to give support to all consoles in a somewhat equalitative way. Final Fantasy XII is the worst selling Final Fantasy since VII was released with only 5 million+ units sold. Star Ocean plus Tales (I know its from Namco) dont even approach that number. But Star Ocean 4 is not completely exclusive so we might as well wait till E3 or TGS 08 for further news, besides, we would be getting their DC editions which in the case of SO 3 was much better than the regular one.
[QUOTE="sa10kun"]You could always try folklore. Some targets have it for 30 buck I hear. No one really deserves the blame. If you want to blame someone blame ms for buying exclusivity for everything.JLF1

They all were completely different stories (with the exception of Blue Sphere on GBA which was a little side story/continuation of SO2). SO1 and SO2 kind of had a link but it was very slight. SO2 was a completely different story. SO3 had some cameos of SO1 and SO2 (like few items had references back to the old games), nothing major. SO3 was just really predictable if you played SO1 and SO2 in the form of story structure which kind of made me unhappy to play it when i got to the middle of Disc 2. Play Star Ocean 1 and 2. They are great games, play SO3, you will see.[QUOTE="Zidaneski"]To answer your question on the Star Ocean locked thread, IMO SO3 wasn't that great because I played Star Ocean and Star Ocean 2. berries and some items of course were the same lol XD as far as location, SO3 was in a completely different world. SO1 and SO2 only shared one location but their was a time lapse difference, very insignificant to the story. Can u say SO1 and SO2 coming to PSP...for Japan only? I guess its because I had gotten use to FF, Kingdom Hearts, Dark Cloud 1 and 2, Rogue Galaxy, Valkyrie Profile 2, and the Jak series so much that SO3 felt like a step backwards in terms of story progression. If they can fix that in SO4 then I will by all means play it since they aren't continous either.
Wow.... another "Sony's not bringing no RPGS just like the PS2 did that made it successful omg I'm about to cry" thread....

Wat was momentous with SO2 for me was the possibility of over 80+ endings. That was what made me a fan, that I could play the game over and over and enjoy it knowing that if I play a certain way, I will get a different ending. I play Star Ocean 2 from time to time, knowing the story over and over again but trying my way into getting the different relationship and hopefully a different ending[QUOTE="JLF1"][QUOTE="sa10kun"]You could always try folklore. Claude* I dont understand how Styx has anything to do with Star Ocean 2. I must be missing something *SPOILER* In SO2, you didnt do a universal warp like Styx in SO3 where you find out ur really just 3d instead of 4d or whatever the bollocks was. In SO2, it was you finding out in Eluria Tower that the 12 wise men were gonna destroy Expel and they do and you are warped to the 12 wise men's planet. You find out Rena's past blah blah and thats the plot twist. *End of Spoiler* So I dont remember anything about Styx being associated with SO2 and Expel again...But isnt Styx and the Great Tablet or whatever the same that were in previous games? I hope that doesn't mean you have to play the game over eighty times from the beginning. And it sounds like all the endings are somewhat similar except maybe the main character goes off and kisses a different girl.Zidaneskiu can play it from the beginning or make certain save points at crucial private actions. It wasnt really much about the main character. It was trying to get the hard endings with supporting character X supporting character ending and trying to avoid the two main characters.

You're original statement is the definition of naive, you're completely blaming Sony based on the fact that they are not throwing money around to gain competitive advantage amongst 3rd party developers. Buying exclusives doesn't mean success, it's possible they can lose money because a game did not bring in an ROI (Return on Investment). It is entirely possible that Sony can make money on their current games they are planning to release, while MS actually loses on certain titles they paid for. Sony is out to make money, not bragging rights to show off titles to competitiors.

But wasnt there one were a tablet spoke to the team and helped them?
How come no one considers SRPG's as an RPG. I mean Disgaea 3 and Valkyria look to be enough to keep you busy for quite awhile. All people do is complain about Disgaea's graphics or how Valkyria isn't really an RPG. Strategy RPG's like Disgaea never have great graphics. It is actually better with it being 2d like that. Just like when Mana went into 3d for PS2 is sucked. There are more things in a game than just graphics. Everybody considers Fire Emblem an RPG, so what makes Valkyria Chronicles any different. I think it is kind of cool how you can actually move for real instead of just going square by square and one turn per person during a phase. You get a set number of turns and you can use them however you want.
I want some JRPG;s too, but a lot of these new ones don't do anything much but tweak the formula. I also want the 360 Tales game, but the ps2 ones looked like they only tweaked the ps1 games. I think people should wait until the game is closer to a release date and stop flying off the handle worrying about games you can't play until 09. I wouldn't say Disgaea 3 is a consolation prize. That game is August, and SO is next year probably in August as well. So I am pretty sure you will know whether or not you will finish Disgaea by then.
well sence i dont care for rpgs i shouldnt even be in here. BUT they are going to have rpgs such as final fantasy 13 and then final fantasy versus 13(which i absolutely cannot wait for). You just have to be patient.
ps hopefully there will be a final fantasy 7 remake. I know its overated but its the first ps1 game i played so im hooked.
