http://news.aol.com/article/6-year-old-drives-family-car-to-school/295688

"It happened around 7:40 a.m. Monday on Route 360, about 61 miles east of Richmond. The boy, whose name wasn't released, missed the bus, took the keys to

his family's 2005 Ford Taurus and drove nearly six miles toward school while his mother was asleep, police said. He made at least two 90-degree turns, passed

several cars and ran off the rural two-lane road several times before hitting an embankment and utility pole about a mile and a half from school.

The boy told police he learned to drive playing Grand Theft Auto and Monster Truck Jam video games."

Holy Crap. We are going to get a lot of flak for this incident.

Unless they mean about the grand theft auto part, what kind of parent buys it for a 6 year old.

Yeah, because you learn to shift gears and stuff from pressing a few buttons on a gamepad.

How did he learn to drive from those games? They don't even show how to start the car, much less accelerate or shift gears.

it still doesnt explain why he learned to drive from playing GTA. Seriously how did he know to put it in reverse? Also, did he stop at red lights or he jsut ran straight forward through the urning traffic?

yea, he mainly learned from watching people. he just got a couple virtual driving hours in. you cant learn to drive from GTA or any game he has played I'm sure. He's a 6yr old kid you can't take what he says seriously. kids think/say all kinds of things like that that arent true

well nowadays parents can be charged with child endangerment or negligance possibly for not being perfect. Its getting really rediculous IMO. people forgot that other people aren't perfect and won't react or do things the way you would. That **** happens, people make mistakes, this isn't the first kid to take their parents car. People have no understanding or tolerance anymore.

That is ridiculous. How did this kid see over the driving wheel? Can you just picture a 6 year old attempting to park in the elementary school parking lot and hits a teacher's car? Then he just walks out and strolls inside the school, i'd love to see it.

I usually don't make judgements on people unless I know them but if you expect your 6-year-old to wait for the bus by himself (his mother was asleep) and he's playing GTA so that raises some red flags for me.

No, God and TV are supposed to look after kids remember? If anything goes wrong, it's the CD they bought. Or it's that "damn Grand Theft Auto" they bought. Didn't you know by playing Doom, you can gain skills that rival the likes of a Navy Seal? That six year old boy could be the next Bin Laden because of Grand Theft Auto! Because you can after all, rig and blow up a car in this game. Parents have better things to do than raise their kids...

This is surely a lie . How could a six year old , size of a mini - dwarf even reach the pedals . How can he learn it from GTA ?! In gta you only have X and [ ] buttons . Did he plug the controller in the car and drive ?!

If the parents bought the game for the kid to play, I blame the parents. if he watched other people play it then you can't say anything about them. When I was 6, I took my Brothers Car keys, Started the car.. And that wasn't hard, I got it in gear and took it down the street, Took it back and crashed... Not at any real speed... But yo it isnt rocket science, Plus they say kids pick up on things quicker than adults... LOL I bet he passes his driving test in around 18 years.

Computer games dont teach people to drive.. especially GTAIV. It doesn't teach how to judge distances in real life, how to change gears etc.

I can only hope that he was playing GTA4 on the 360, but that's the least of our worries. The parents have obviously no ideal whatsoever what GTAIV is. From my point of view, it sounds like the kid's fault. 6 years old, they may have had at least SOME common sense at that age, and even if he said it was from the game, it's not like there were any kids driving the cars there. I'm confused as to whose fault this really is, and I'm leaning more onto the kid. I mean sure the parents should have been keeping the kid in tact, guarding him from the dangerous stuff. But at the time, they were asleep and the kid should no better then to just go out on his own. But then it could still be the parent's fault since they bought GTAIV in the first place. So on after this, if I hear a lawsuit about this, I wouldn't be surprised =/

Funny although GTA has an '18' cert on the front, yes? Surely that's all the info the parents needed and yet they possibly let their 6 year old play it. Did the 6 year old learn to carjack and hotwire a car too?
