Uncharted. Although it's rated T, I think he'd still enjoy it.

My younger brother's 12, and he plays a lot of M rated games like me :|

But make sure your parents are okay with getting your brother a T rated game.

When I was 11 I wouldn't touch a girl with a barge pole, nevermind play a girl game, know your audience! ...maybe I was younger, I'm not sure.

What games did you play when you were eleven?

I used to play some pretty 'intelectual' games when I was under ten years old. Infact my most distinct gaming memories are from around the age of eleven, if not younger.

How is uncharted good for an 11 year old?
Just because it's colourful?!

Swearing, blood, etc etc, pretty scary too, especially for an 11 year old.

Burnout Paradise would be perfect. It's even having an expansion pack comming out that may even have planes.

Check it out, sounds sweet. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burnout_Paradise#Expansions

When I was 7 I was playing FFVII,...that was a lot of reading and I understood it and remember it all to this day. Strange how now I'm getting less patient with RPGs.

Hmm... I guess I'd just find any game that was Teen or under.

Lego Star Wars is a great game, but only if you're nostalgic for the licenses used... at 11, I doubt he's made the connections with Lego and Star Wars that I did... I mean, Super NES and Genesis were the parties in the console war when I was 11, you know? So at his age, he may just find the Lego games to be childish and simple.

Uncharted is a possibility... it's rated Teen, but it's not very violent (gun play aside -- but no real gore or anything) and the language is pretty tame. Despite being rated M, Oblivion is also reasonably tame except for a few parts here and there where it gets a little gory (scary zombies, etc)... but 11 year old boys (I think you said it was a him) love that kind of stuff anyway... only problem is that they might find Oblivion a little boring. 11 year olds tend to have very, very short attention spans.

You can't really go wrong with a racing game... GT5P or -- from what I hear, although I hated the demo -- so is Burnout Paradise, and considering he can't drive yet, this is as close as he/she gets. Various sports games are a decent idea... Hot Shots Golf is a good game.

The Guitar Hero or, especially, Rock Band games are good for people that age... they're on the expensive side though. But if he decides to form a band and makes it big in Hollywood, he'll be thanking YOU in the liner notes, and will likely slide some cash your way as thanks for the inspiration.

Definitely Burnout: Paradise, your brother will love watching the crashes. I haven't shown the game to anyone that hasn't used all their boost and purposely ran into a wall at top speed several times.

Some T game should be ok. Heavenly Sword or Burnout seems fine. Also Rock Band... That game looks sweet as a party game.
