Hi! I just bought a PS4 Pro this Black Friday from Amazon to replace my "Fat" PS4 from 2015. The first game i've tried and played on the new console for about an hour is Titanfall 2 and what a great game it is both from a visual and storytelling perspective. It almost reminds me of the first time i booted up Crysis on my newly bought PC back in 2007. I have a question though regarding the Pro, or actually two. I notice that the fan of The Pro goes up and down and can be really noticeable at times when playing Titanfall 2. This is something i didn't think of with my old PS4, then again i din't play the gamne on it. I also touched the top of the Pro by accident and it was pretty warm towards the back right where i suppose the exhaust is. Since i've been messing around and bulit PC for 20 some years i know how hot GPUs (or in this case APUs) can get. I just wanted to check if anybody else has noticed the fans revving up to a quite notiveable noise when playing Titanfall 2 and the top of the console getting pretty hot. Thanks in advance/ Izak80

Consoles get hot, specially in those tiny boxes, X goes to 60 celsius, who says X is cooler? X has good design but doesnt work cooler. Pro mostly hits 50 approx' and pretty cooler compared to X. Nobody should worry about console heat, just make sure your room has ventilation and rest it after 6 or 7 hours of play, remember that main menu is like resting cuz it shrinks down to 35 celsius so if u don wanna turn it off, just stay in dashboard afew minutes. Overally everything is in order for u to play long hours. If a console has faulty cooling system it will definitely pop up a message to user " console is hot please turn it off" ... So relax and enjoy...

@Izak80: Short answer: the Pro isn't well designed, it gets hot and loud.

Mine hasn't really made any noise that I've found excessive compared to the standard PS4. Of course, what's excessive is really going to depend per person, but I'm used to electronics making a good deal of noise and I don't normally touch them to see how how they get.

It does run a bit loud for sure. It;s totally normal and with its design it does get a tad hot but you shouldn't have any problems. I think Sony rushed it out bc of VR. It's def nothing like the Xbox One x which has no sound. The X is impressive in its design and capabilities and the Pro is no slouch. I'd rather game 1440p up scaled then 1080p anyday.

One last question, hopefully. After i unboxed the console i checked it thoroughly for any damage sustained during the delivery. I noticed that it sounded almost as if something was loose and moved inside it. Just to be sure i checked with my old PS4 and it "luckily" sounded the same. Remebering that i heard something about the old Xbox 360 and that it had a "tilt-switch" so that the console knew if it where placed flat or upright. I just wondered if it's the same case with PS4 and PS4 Pro, was is it the tilt-switch i heard when i moved my PS4 and PS4 Pro around? Thanks in advance.

Unless you actually start having problems, such as the console switching itself off or becoming really unstable I wouldn't worry. My fat PS4 which I've had since 2015 does get quite warm to touch and also I do hear the fans rev up and down every now and then and I've not had any problems

The only time I hear it is when a level is loading. As for the heat, it seems to put off the same amount as my base PS4.

You can't have all that supercharged 4k gaming without some noise. Now seriously, it does get hot and noisy (noisy for a console, not PC) you should not worry.

Thnx for all the replies, i appreciate it and it put my mind to ease a bit. I'm still wondering about what sounded like a loose thing inside of both my PRO and old PS4, maybe a cable?

@pinkfloyd6789: Thanks for your reply. I acctually returned the PS4 Pro i had (when i first wrote this thread) around christmas and bought a new one directly from a electronics store instead of ordering it online. This new one has for these couple of months worked great and is alot quieter than my first Pro (both have been the B model though with the slightly revised cooling solution).
